The “Biophysical assessment for indemnity selection of federal lands in Colorado: Indemnity Unit locations” dataset delineates the spatial locations of 89 Indemnity Units, comprising 339 parcels of federal lands. These lands, currently managed by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), are under consideration for transfer of ownership to the State of Colorado in compensation for federal lands not available for transfer at the time of statehood. The Indemnity Units total 23,130 acres of surface and mineral estate and 6,150 acres of mineral estate only. The specific land parcels to be transferred to the State will be finalized after an environmental analysis is completed, as required by the National Environmental Policy...

This dataset “Broad-scale assessment of biophysical features in Colorado: Soil salinity using electrical conductance” presents information extracted from the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) gridded surface soils geographic database (gSSURGO). Fields retained and presented here include map unit (MU) codes and component (COMP) codes that may be used to reference records in the original, NRCS, data. Soil salinity is typically measured and evaluated based on electrical conductance (EC), and values presented here include the representative value for the map unit component (ECR) and the highest estimated value (ECH). Soils with high salinity can affect the composition of vegetation and can limit production...

The data contained in this report was compiled, modified, and analyzed for the Wyoming Landscape Conservation Initiative (WLCI) Integrated Assessment (IA). The WLCI is a long-term science based effort to assess and enhance aquatic and terrestrial habitats at a landscape scale in southwest Wyoming while facilitating responsible energy development through local collaboration and partnerships. The IA is an integrated synthesis and analysis of WLCI resource values based on best available data and information collected from multiple agencies and organizations. It is a support tool for landscape-scale conservation planning and evaluation, and a data and analysis resource that can be used for addressing specific management...

This synthesized results data set is a normalized unit-less layer represent the varying levels of importance of land parcels associated with agriculture in the WLCI region. This raster represents a normalized sum for 9 spatial data sets: irrigated acreage in wet years, irrigated acreage in dry years, land classification for pasture/rangeland/ production, important grazing and calving areas, buffered locations of water 'guzzlers,' an elk depredation claims index, a mule deer depredation claims index, an antelope depredation claims index, an index based on the age of agricultural buildings associated with land parcels. These data represent an initial step towards spatially identifying lands that represent greater...

This dataset represents numerical values denoting a binary identification of whether a particular condition is met. In this case, values represent whether a given land parcel (represented as a pixel) is classified as "Hay/Pasture" or "Cultivated Crops" (pixels will be assigned a value of 1), or not (all pixels not in one of these categories will be assigned a value of 0). This raster is one of 9 inputs used to calculate the "Normalized Importance Index."

The "Broad-scale assessment of biophysical features in Colorado: Terrestrial development index using 5-kilometer moving window" raster dataset quantifies levels of development (urban, agriculture, energy and mineral extraction and transmission, and roads and railroads) for all lands in Colorado. The terrestrial development index (TDI) represents the total percentage of the estimated surface disturbance footprint from development within a 5-kilometer (km) radius moving window. The TDI scores range from 0 to 100 percent. Methods are described in the companion report (see "Larger Work" section).
