These data were released prior to the October 1, 2016 effective date for the USGS’s policy dictating the review, approval, and release of scientific data as referenced in USGS Survey Manual Chapter 502.8 Fundamental Science Practices: Review and Approval of Scientific Data for Release. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) as part of the Department of Interior WaterSmart Program compiled published estimates of groundwater discharge to streams in the Upper Colorado River Basin into a dataset and developed a geospatial database. For the purpose of this compilation, groundwater discharge to streams consists of base-flow, and may include contributions from groundwater discharge from various flow paths, lateral seepage,...

This layer is geographically based on Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and U.S. General Land Office Geographic Coordinate Data Base (GCDB) 1:24,000-scale Land survey Information System Data Base (LSIS) data for the states of Nevada and Utah sourced from the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Digital Line Graph (DLG) dataset. Tabular data is derived from the Nevada Division of Water Resources (NDWR) Crop Inventory Data. NDWR inventories...

This map shows specific water-quality items and hydrologic data site information which come from QWDATA (Water Quality) and GWSI (Ground Water Information System). Both QWDATA and GWSI are subsystems of NWIS (National Water Inventory System)of the USGS (United States Geologic Survey). This map is for Uintah County, Utah. The scope and purpose of NWIS is defined on the web site: http://water.usgs.gov/public/pubs/FS/FS-027-98/

An existing three-dimensional groundwater flow model of northern Utah County (https://doi.org/10.3133/sir20095049), was updated for use with the Groundwater Management Process(GWM) for MODFLOW-2005, to evaluate the optimal managed aquifer recharge scenarios with the objective of maintaining acceptable reductions in simulated discharge at 12 groundwater discharge areas along Utah Lake. Groundwater is a primary source of drinking water in northern Utah County. By 2066, the amount of groundwater withdrawn is estimated to be roughly 65 percent of annual average recharge. To prepare for anticipated future increases in groundwater withdrawals, local cities have identified 16 locations as feasible for managed aquifer recharge....

This dataset describes survey data collected for the Bureau of Reclamation (Reclamation), the agency in charge of regulating Colorado River water control operations impounding the Lake Powell reservoir. Additional intent of the collected data was to assure consistencies among gaging elevations at Glen Canyon Dam near Page, Arizona as well as verification and alignment of a recently published topobathymetric digital elevation model for Lake Powell. Glen Canyon Dam is a concrete arch-gravity dam on the Colorado River in northern Arizona and is the second largest man-made reservoir in the United States. The location was chosen to survey due to uncertainty in the local datum used by the Reclamation as well as uncertainties...

This database includes water quality records compiled at the request of the Bureau of Land Management for the Uinta Basin in Utah and Colorado. All data contained within this database are publically available via the United States Geological Survey’s National Water Information System (NWIS) database (available at https://waterdata.usgs.gov/nwis). Data collected and provided by the states of Utah and Colorado were also analyzed, however, this data had also been submitted to, and was available in, NWIS by the time this database was compiled. This database includes all available water-quality data for the Uinta Basin. For groundwater samples this includes data up to October 24, 2014; for surface water samples this...

Data provided here describe geochemical correction of carbon-14 in dissolved inorganic carbon (DIC) for groundwater age dating. Datasets include major ion chemistry of groundwater samples, model parameter inputs, and final corrected carbon-14 in DIC. Geochemical correction was completed in two phases: determination of reactive phase mole transfers through an inverse geochemical model (PHREEQC; Parkhurst and Appleo, 1992) and tracking of isotopic mass transfer among phases (NetpathXL; Parkhusrtand Charlton, 2008). Parkhurst, D.L., and Appelo, C.A.J., 2013, Description of input and examples for PHREEQC version 3—A computer program for speciation, batch-reaction, one-dimensional transport, and inverse geochemical...

This data release documents nine Microsoft Excel tables that contain data for understanding groundwater ages in the Glacial aquifer system. Results for the three sample networks (PAS, principal aquifer study; MSS, modeling support study; FPS, flow path study) are described by three tables each: dissolved gas modeling results, environmental tracer concentrations (tritium, tritiogenic helium-3, sulfur hexafluoride, carbon-14, and radiogenic helium-4), and results for the mean age and age distribution. Tables are labeled by network and data type (as described below) separated by an underscore (_). For example, dissolved gas modeling results from the PAS network is label ‘PAS_NGmodel’. Dissolved gas modeling results...
