A total of 264 unique turtle shells were observed in the dataset, based on the unique turtle IDs. Dataset Overview: This dataset contain information about various turtle sightings, with each entry detailing the image file and associated metadata for each turtle sighting. The dataset includes the following fields: index: An identifier for each row or entry in the dataset (appears to be auto-generated). photoname: The filename of the photo taken of the turtle, including the date and description of the image (e.g., carapace photos). turtle_ID: A unique identifier for each turtle, possibly denoting a tag or observation number. year: The year when the photo was taken. month: The month when the photo was taken. day: The...

A laser rangefinder was used to record debris flows at Cascades volcanoes and an experimental debris flow flume. Mass movements such as large lahars and smaller seasonal debris flows can occur at volcanoes in the Cascades. A combination of seismic, infrasound, tripwires, and webcams can be used to detect and characterize these flows. A laser rangefinder can be placed on the banks of the drainages and pointed towards the channel as a low power, low bandwidth piece of equipment to confirm increases in flow past the station. This can serve as another piece of evidence for flows and may be able to be incoporated into future alarm systems to improve their accuracy and performance. A laser rangefinder was deployed for...

The California Groundwater Ambient Monitoring and Assessment Program (GAMA) is a statewide assessment of groundwater quality designed to help better understand and identify risks to groundwater resources. GAMA is implemented by the California State Water Resources Control Board. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) is the technical lead for the Priority Basin Project (PBP), one of the components of the GAMA Program. Starting in 2012, GAMA began an assessment of water resources in domestic-supply (shallow) aquifers in California. These aquifers provide water for domestic and small community-supply wells, which are often drilled to shallower depths in the groundwater system than public-supply wells. Domestic-supply aquifers...

This child item contains the raw acoustic Doppler velocity profiler (ADCP) measurements collected by U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) hydrographers at each site to validate Image and Radar velocimetry results. The discharge measurements were collected as part of routine and standard streamflow gaging direct measurement workflows at established USGS gaging locations. The zip file included in this release contains folders for each site. Within each folder are the associated raw ADCP files. For all field sites except BRJ, official discharge records are approved and available in the National Water Information System (NWIS) database. For those measurements with NWIS official measurements, the Site Visit Notes report is...

This data release contains reference baselines for primarily open-ocean sandy beaches along the west coast of the United States (California, Oregon and Washington). The slopes were calculated while extracting shoreline position from lidar point cloud data collected between 2002 and 2011. The shoreline positions have been previously published, but the slopes have not. A reference baseline was defined and then evenly-spaced cross-shore beach transects were created. Then all data points within 1 meter of each transect were associated with each transect. Next, it was determined which points were one the foreshore, and then a linear regression was fit through the foreshore points. Beach slope was defined as the slope...

These are genetic data collected from replicated samples of 21 Enteroctopus (E. dofleini or a cryptic lineage) in Prince William Sound Alaska to evaluate tissue type, DNA extraction method, and time until analyses are completed on data reliability. Data collected from all samples include two microsatellites identified as possible lineage indicators, and nine microsatellite loci previously identified as polymorphic in both lineages. DNA sequence data from 528 bp of the octopine dehydrogenase (OCDE) gene were also collected.

These data are in seven tables relating to surveys of eelgrass (Zostera marina) and widgeongrass (Ruppia maritima) beds in embayments of the north Pacific coast of Baja California, Mexico. The tables provide environmental conditions, eelgrass and widgeongrass abundance, and measurements used to estimate their aboveground biomass. These tables also provide information on percent cover, location, and tide height of eelgrass, widgeongrass and seaweeds, and water conditions during the survey. Version History: First release: March 2022 Revised: April 2023 (ver. 2.0)

These data were compiled as part of a long-term (1964 - 2022) water quality monitoring program at Lake Powell. Objectives of our study were to release a consistent record of long-term water quality data. The 58-year limnology dataset captures some water quality parameters (temperature, salinity, major ions, total suspended solids) from reservoir filling to present day. It also contains a 38-year record of secchi depth, and a ~30-year record of nutrients, phytoplankton, and zooplankton assemblages. The data were collected from various sites within the Lake Powell reservoir and the Glen Canyon dam. Regular monthly sampling occurred at three sites near the dam and reservoir-wide sampling was generally conducted quarterly,...

The Yellowstone Plateau volcanic field and surrounding region is made up of over 3 billion years of geologic history, with 300+ separate rock types. To increase our understanding of the evolution of this active system and direct priorities for sample collection and field study, we compiled whole rock geochemical datasets from numerous thesis and papers (17 in total). We present these data in a standardized format and include location information and details on analytical methods when available.
