This page contains results from 304 Fluvial Egg Drift Simulator (FluEgg; version 4.1.1) simulations of invasive carp eggs and larvae in the Maumee River, Ohio, under unsteady flow conditions. FluEgg models the drift and dispersion of eggs and larvae in fluvial environments. The eggs develop, changing in size and density, and eventually hatch into larvae. The simulations end when the larvae reach the gas bladder inflation stage or when the set duration of the simulation is exceeded (whichever comes first). FluEgg requires the user to provide hydraulic data to drive the drift model. The hydraulic inputs for these FluEgg simulations were generated using a one-dimensional unsteady hydraulic model of the Maumee River...

These datasets provide early estimates of 2024 fractional cover for exotic annual grass (EAG) species and one native perennial grass species on a weekly basis from April to late June. Typically, the EAG estimates are publicly released within 7-13 days of the latest satellite observation used for that version. Each weekly release contains five fractional cover maps along with their corresponding confidence maps for: 1) a group of 16 species of EAGs, 2) cheatgrass (Bromus tectorum); 3) Field Brome (Bromus arvensis); 4) medusahead (Taeniatherum caput-medusae); and 5) Sandberg bluegrass (Poa secunda). These datasets were generated leveraging field observations from Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Assessment, Inventory,...

From October 2017 to June 2018, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) collected 101 surficial sediment samples from abandoned mine wastepiles, ephemeral channels below wastepiles, nearby outcrops, and background areas representative of the undisturbed lithology in the Browns Park mining district of northeastern Utah. Additionally, twelve sediment samples were collected in drainages associated with legacy sample locations from the National Uranium Resource Evaluation (NURE) Hydrogeochemical and Stream Sediment Reconnaissance (HSSR) program (reformatted by Smith, 2006). The Browns Park district is in the eastern arch of the Uinta Mountain Range, north of the Green River, and approximately 5 miles west of the...

This data release contains time series and plots summarizing mean monthly temperature and total monthly precipitation, runoff, and streamflow from the U.S. Geological Survey Monthly Water Balance Model at 115 National Wildlife Refuges within the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Mountain-Prairie Region (CO, KS, MT, NE, ND, SD, UT, and WY). The four variables are derived from two sets of statistically-downscaled general circulation models from 1951 through 2099. The three variables were summarized for comparison across four 19-year periods: historic (1951-1969), baseline (1981-1999), 2050 (2041-2059), and 2080 (2071-2089). For each refuge, mean monthly plots, seasonal box plots, and annual envelope plots were produced...

The Louisiana State Legislature created the Coastal Wetlands Planning, Protection and Restoration Act (CWPPRA) in order to conserve, restore, create and enhance Louisiana's coastal wetlands. The wetland restoration plans developed pursuant to these acts specifically require an evaluation of the effectiveness of each coastal wetlands restoration project in achieving long-term solutions to arresting coastal wetlands loss. This data set includes mosaicked aerial photographs for the Dedicated Dredging on the Barataria Basin Landbridge (BA-36) project for 2018. This data is used as a basemap land-water classification. It also serves as a visual tool for project managers to help them identify any obvious problems or land...

This data package includes 481 geospatial vector polygons of historic fire perimeters associated with National Wildlife Refuges in Alaska. These polygons, originally held within the Alaska Large Fire Database (ALFD), were reviewed and found to have geospatial inaccuracies with respect to the fire they represent. They were corrected and updated based on a variety of remote sensing resources; the Monitoring Trends in Burn Severity (MTBS) database (https://www.mtbs.gov/viewer/index.html), geospatial rasters of historic fire activity derived from Landsat 1-9 imagery in the Google Earth Engine(https://earthengine.google.com) environment, and historical air photos acquired through EarthExplorer (https://earthexplorer.usgs.gov/)....

These data represent the measurements of length and mouth gape from large juvenile and adult wild-caught and small juvenile hatchery origin black carp, and the results of laboratory size preference trials with bivalve prey, specifically Corbicula clams. Wild-caught black carp ranged from 429-1580 mm total length, a larger range than measured in previous studies. Corbicula feeding trial data consist of the shell dimensions of each clam, survival, and the frequency which clams were engulfed by black carp.

This dataset consists of 1,353 ground observer investigations of mountain lion predation events ("kills") in eastern Nevada, USA, from 2018 to 2022. Over the period of the data collection, we had 29 mountain lions equipped with telemetry collars and we investigated clusters of locations when GPS collar locations were in the same area for three nights -- we used this criteria to identify potential predation events by mountain lions, and then hiked to the GPS cluster location on foot to search for a kill site and to identify the species consumed. Collared mountain lions were both males and females, and species consumed included mule deer, feral horses, bighorn sheep, coyotes, other mountain lions, badgers, beaver,...

Boreal Partners in Flight developed the Alaska Landbird Monitoring Survey (ALMS) primarily to monitor breeding populations of landbirds in the vast off-road areas of Alaska in conjunction with data collected from the roadside North American Breeding Bird Survey (BBS). ALMS is a collaborative program in which agencies and other entities conduct standardized surveys of breeding birds and their habitats on the lands they manage and then provide the data to the U.S. Geological Survey Alaska Science Center for analysis and archiving. The ALMS monitoring program comprises a set of survey blocks that have been selected in a stratified-random design primarily across state and Federal natural resource lands in Alaska with...

Harmful algal blooms (HABs) have recently been observed in rivers, including the Illinois River in the Midwest United States. The Illinois River Basin has a history of eutrophication issues, primarily caused by the excessive loading of nitrogen and phosphorus from urban and agricultural sources. Recent events have seen the emergence of cyanobacterial harmful algal blooms in the area. This data release provides early warning indicator (EWI) metrics derived from a continuous chlorophyll concentration dataset obtained from seven water quality monitoring sites along the Illinois River. These metrics include the first-order autoregressive process (Ar1) and the standard deviation (SD) of chlorophyll, which serve as leading...

This shapefile includes strike and dip information for the area of the Stillwater Complex, located in southwestern Montana. This dataset was created from pre-existing digital strike and dip information and from digitizing strike and dip locations from georeferenced map images. The data includes information about the strike and dip locations; the geologic unit and rock type the measurement was taken on; information about the source map, such as map title and scale; and other miscellaneous information. Version 2.0 includes additional strike and dip measurements and updated locations for many points resulting from maps that were re-georeferenced using high resolution lidar. For access to the previous version of this...
