View in gravel pit north side of Elkhorn Valley, three miles southeast of Norfolk. (1) Soil, slope, wash and loess thickens to left, 1-6 feet. (2) Rusty, gray, jointed, highly calcareous Kansan glacial till, 0-8 feet, thins out to left due to erosion. (3) Bed of crumpled and infolded glacial till and hard fine sandy clay, 0-2 1/2 feet. Thin stringers of the till extend to left and are inter-bedded with undisturbed, stratified, fine sand. (4) Stratified and cross-bedded sand and gravel, 10+ feet, contains clay balls 1-inch to 3-feet in diameter, partly covered by talus. Madison County, Nebraska. October 12, 1919.
