Stable hydrogen (H), oxygen (O), and sulfur (S) isotope data were collected from the Elizabeth copper mine Superfund site, South Strafford, Vermont. Sample media include surface water (H and O), groundwater (H and O), dissolved sulfate (O and S), and sulfide minerals in bulk mill tailings samples. Where available, supporting data for water samples include discharge, pH, specific conductance, and dissolved sulfate concentration. The water samples span a time period from August 1998 to October 2009.

Extracting useful and accurate information from scanned geologic and other earth science maps is a time-consuming and laborious process involving manual human effort. To address this limitation, the USGS partnered with the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) to run the AI for Critical Mineral Assessment Competition, soliciting innovative solutions for automatically georeferencing and extracting features from maps. The competition opened for registration in August 2022 and concluded in December 2022. Training and validation data from the map feature extraction challenge are provided here, as well as competition details and a baseline solution. The data were derived from published sources and are provided...

This directory includes GeoTIFF grids and shapefiles of magnetic data that cover the countries of the US and Canada. GeoTIFF grids of national-scale magnetic anomaly data for the conterminous United States (Ravat and others, 2009), Alaska (Division of Geological and Geophysical Surveys, 2016) and Canada (Miles and Oneschuk, 2016) were merged to create a composite residual magnetic anomaly grid of the United States and Canada. Several derivative products were calculated from the residual magnetic anomaly grid and are provided in this directory. Derivative grids include a reduced-to-pole (RTP) magnetic anomaly grid, the 1st vertical derivative of the RTP, the horizontal gradient magnitude pseudo-gravity calculated...

Airborne magnetic data are provided here as part of the data release "Airborne magnetic and radiometric survey, western Arkansas, 2022." This website includes the processed aeromagnetic data provided in an ASCII .csv file and geoTIFF images showing the total magnetic intensity and derivative products, including the first and second vertical derivatives, residual magnetics, and reduced-to-pole magnetics.
Boreholes were drilled in 2017 and 2018 in Redwell Basin, a headwater catchment underlain by mineralized and hydrothermally altered sedimentary rock in the Elk Mountains near the town of Crested Butte, Colorado. Site locations and drilling procedures are documented under the main page of this data release. Borehole geophysical data were collected in boreholes MW1, MW1UZ, and MW2.1 as open holes prior to well construction. Logging was performed by a combination of USGS and Mount Sopris Instruments (MW1) and University of Wyoming (MW1UZ and MW2.1) staff. Log types vary by well on the basis of available equipment, site limitations, and borehole conditions. In borehole MW1, log types include fluid temperature and conductivity,...

This dataset includes magnetotelluric (MT) sounding data collected in July 2019 in the Silverton Caldera complex, Colorado, in the Southern Rocky Mountain Volcanic Field, by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). Along with geologic mapping, airborne magnetics, airborne electromagnetics, and audiomagnetotellurics, the USGS collected MT data at 24 sites along five profiles ranging from 2 to 5 kilometers in length: across Red Mountain of the Silverton caldera, within the caldera in Eureka Graben, across the south-eastern margin of the caldera along Arrastra Gulch, across the southern margin of the caldera along the western margin of Kendall Mountain, and across the south-western margin of the caldera along South Fork...

This U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) data release provides the descriptions of 11 U.S. sites that include mineral regions, mines, and mineral occurrences that contain enrichments of niobium (Nb). To be included in this data release, a site must have a contained resource and (or) past production of Nb metal greater than 10,000 metric tons, which was the approximate consumption of Nb in the U.S. in 2019 (U.S. Geological Survey, 2020). Sites in this dataset occur in Alaska, Arkansas, Colorado, Nebraska, and Texas. Niobium primarily occurs in oxide minerals of the pyrochlore group, which are most commonly found in carbonatites and alkaline granite-syenite complexes. Globally, the largest Nb deposits occur in Brazil and...
