This dataset is a LAS (industry-standard binary format for storing large point clouds) dataset containing light detection and ranging (LiDAR) data representing beach topography of Lake Superior at Minnesota Point, Duluth, Minnesota. Average point spacing of the LiDAR points in the dataset is 0.137 meters (m; 0.45 feet [ft]). The LAS dataset was used to create a 1-m (3.28084 ft) digital elevation model (DEM) of the approximately 4 kilometer (2.5 mile) surveyed reach of the beach. LiDAR data were collected August 10, 2019 using a boat-mounted Optech ILRIS scanner and methodology similar to that described by Huizinga and Wagner (2019). This portion of the USGS data release presents bathymetry data collected during surveys performed on the Elwha River delta, Washington in July 2017 (USGS Field Activity Number 2017-638-FA). Bathymetry data were collected using two personal watercraft (PWCs) and a kayak, all equipped with single-beam sonar systems and global navigation satellite system (GNSS) receivers. The PWC sonar systems consisted of an Odom Echotrac CV-100 single-beam echosounder and 200 kHz transducer with a 9° beam angle. Raw acoustic backscatter returns were digitized by the echosounder with a vertical resolution of 1.25 cm. Depths from the echosounders were computed using sound velocity profiles measured using a YSI CastAway CTD during the...
This portion of the USGS data release presents topography data collected during surveys performed in the Columbia River littoral cell, Washington and Oregon, in 2016 (USGS Field Activity Number 2016-663-FA). Topographic profiles were collected by walking along survey lines with global navigation satellite system (GNSS) receivers mounted on backpacks. Prior to data collection, vertical distances between the GNSS antennas and the ground were measured using a tape measure. Hand-held data collectors were used to log raw data and display navigational information allowing surveyors to navigate survey lines spaced at 100- to 1000-m intervals along the beach. Profiles were surveyed from the landward edge of the study area...

High-resolution single-channel Chirp seismic-reflection data were collected by the U.S. Geological Survey in March and April 2007 from Pacifica to Half Moon Bay, offshore San Mateo County, California. Data were collected aboard the R/V Fulmar, during field activity F-02-07-NC. Chirp data were collected using an EdgeTech 512 chirp subbottom system and recorded with a Triton SB-Logger.

This portion of the USGS data release presents topography data collected during surveys performed on the Elwha River delta, Washington, in May 2012 (USGS Field Activity Number W-03-12-PS). Topography data were collected on foot with global navigation satellite system (GNSS) equipment mounted on backpacks operating primarily in Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) mode. A total of 4 GNSS backpacks, each equipped with a dual-frequency GNSS receiver and handheld data collector, were used during the survey. Differential corrections were transmitted at 1-Hz intervals by a VHF radio to the backpack GNSS receivers from a GNSS base station placed on a benchmark with known horizontal and vertical coordinates relative to the North American...

This dataset is a polygon shapefile containing reservoir boundary of Lago Guayabal, and represents the contour at the spillway elevation. This polygon was used to constraint the extent of the Triangulated irregular network (TIN) model and ultimately, to generate contours from bathymetric data collected during a sedimentation survey conducted during the period December 11- December 14, 2017 by the Puerto Rico office of the Caribbean-Florida Water Science Center of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). The goals of the survey were to determine reservoir infill sedimentation rates, generate a bathymetric map of the reservoir, and create a stage-volume relation. Field techniques used during the survey were similar to those...

This portion of the USGS data release presents single beam bathymetry data collected during surveys performed in the Cache Slough Complex, Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta, California in 2017 and 2018 (USGS Field Activity Numbers 2017-649-FA and 2018-684-FA). Bathymetry data were collected using personal watercraft (PWCs) equipped with single-beam sonar systems and global navigation satellite system (GNSS) receivers. The final point data from the PWCs are provided in a comma-separated text file and are projected in cartesian coordinates using the Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM) Zone 10 North, meters coordinate system.

On October 5-6, 2022, a combination of Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP) and Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) surveying were used to collect bathymetric data of the Lummi Sea Pond near Bellingham, WA. Distributed XYZ points were interpolated to create a continuous bathymetric map of the sea pond. The final product is two-meter raster in NAD88 (2011) UTM 10N coordinates, with elevations referenced to NAVD88 (GEOID18a). Details of the process used to construct the surface are provided in the raster file metadata. Supporting datasets included in the zip file include raw ADCP data, ADCP bathymetry data in CSV format, and GNSS data in CSV format.

Changes in Arctic coastal ecosystems in response to global warming may be some of the most severe on the planet. A better understanding and analysis of the rates at which these changes are expected to occur over the coming decades is crucial in order to delineate high-priority areas that are likely to be affected by climate changes. The data provided in this release are part of a study that assessed the likelihood of changes to a barrier island – lagoon systems in response to projected changes in atmospheric and oceanographic forcing associated with Arctic warming. Arey Lagoon and the surrounding area near Barter Island, Alaska, were focused upon as part of this pilot study. The study investigates the dominance...

Water supply lakes are the primary source of water for many communities in northern and western Missouri. Therefore, accurate and up-to-date estimates of lake capacity are important for managing and predicting adequate water supply. Many of the water supply lakes in Missouri were previously surveyed by the U.S. Geological Survey in the early 2000s (Richards, 2013) and in 2013 (Huizinga, 2014); however, years of potential sedimentation may have resulted in reduced water storage capacity. Periodic bathymetric surveys are useful to update the area/capacity table and to determine changes in the bathymetric surface. Monroe Lake B (Monroe City South) is a water supply lake used by the city of Monroe City in northeastern...
