This dataset describes water-quantity and -quality data measured from the parking lot influent and underdrain and overflow effluent from the permeable asphalt, concrete and paver test plots in Madison, Wisconsin, USA. Data include precipitation statistics, volumes, and concentrations and loads of total and dissolved forms of solids, nutrients, chloride, and bacteria. Samples were collected in August 2014 through September 2016. These data are interpreted in a USGS Scientific Investigations Report.

Airborne electromagnetic (AEM) and magnetic survey data were collected during March 2022 over a distance of 2,574.6 line kilometers in southeast and southwest Wisconsin. These data were collected in support of an effort to improve estimates of depth to bedrock through a collaborative project between the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection (DATCP), and Wisconsin Geological and Natural History Survey (WGNHS). Data were acquired by SkyTEM Canada Inc. with the SkyTEM 304M time-domain helicopter-borne electromagnetic system together with a Geometrics G822A cesium vapor magnetometer. The survey was acquired at a nominal flight height of 30 - 40 meters (m)...

A new groundwater flow model was created for Dane County, Wisconsin, to replace an earlier model developed in the 1990s by the Wisconsin Geological and Natural History Survey (WGNHS) and the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). This modeling study was conducted cooperatively by the WGNHS, the Capital Area Regional Planning Commission, and the USGS. Although the overall conceptual model of the groundwater system remains largely unchanged, the incorporation of newly acquired, high-quality datasets, recent research findings, and improved modeling and calibration techniques have led to the development of a much more detailed and sophisticated model representation of the groundwater system. The new model is three-dimensional...

This dataset characterizes water quality and quantity data from 33 storm events at the influent and effluent of a stormwater treatment vault modified with a Coanda-effect screen in Madison, Wisconsin (2016-17). Event dates, event duration, precipitation depth, 15-minute intensity, 30-minute intensity, 60-minute intensity, event volume, and peak discharge are shown with corresponding influent and effluent concentrations and loads as well as percent reductions and load reductions of total suspended solids (TSS), volatile suspended solids (VSS), suspended sediment concentration (SSC), total phosphorus (TP), and dissolved phosphorus (DP). Data are interpreted in a scientific paper published in the Journal of Sustainable...

Corrected and aggregated temperature data from the subsurface of three permeable pavement types [permeable interlocking concrete pavers (PICP), pervious concrete (PC), and porous asphalt (PA)] collected in Madison, Wisconsin between November 1 and April 30 (cold-weather periods), 2014-2021 are in this data release. Temperature data was corrected through removal of intermittent erroneous values such as sudden and extreme changes in data values that could not be explained. Raw corrected datasets containing one minute data for PICP, PC, and PA are part of this data release. An average hourly temperature dataset, produced by averaging raw corrected data for the nine probes at each corresponding depth (0, 15, and 30...

This data release includes three sets of data collected for a farm- and field-focused phosphorus reduction study in south-central, Wisconsin, USA. Paired samples collected in the control and treatment watershed analyzed for suspended sediment, total phosphorus, and total dissolved phosphorus during the calibration and post-treatment phases are presented. Samples were collected in fall 2006 through fall 2016. The data sets include: 1) Paired storm event loads parsed into calibration and post-treatment period and by the presence of frozen ground; 2) Paired low flow concentrations; and 3) Daily load data for each watershed separated by total flow and baseflow. These data are interpreted in journal articles to be published...
