The purpose of this Assessment is to understand how much upland hardwood forest and woodland habitat is available and what condition that habitat is currently in relative to habitat targets, or endpoints, defined in the ISA. To assess the ISA endpoints for upland hardwood systems, it was necessary that the most consistent, comprehensive, current and accurate data be used in summary and analysis. For the best possible assessment product we cross-checked geospatial datasets spanning variable time periods and data sources in the Ozark Highlands subgeography and remainder of the GCPO geography.
Patch-level summary of 8 climatic characteristics at each of 1,865 talus patches across 3 regions in the Rocky Mountains. Dataset notes the year in which the patch was surveyed for pikas, the values of its climatic characteristics (estimated from the ClimateNA dataset), the name of each talus patch, and which of the 3 regions each patch occurs in.

This multi-layer GeoPackage contains the YKD Coastal Zone Survey design transects from 1985 to present. The original transects were imported to this SQLite database structure and saved as individual polylines named according to the year they were created (e.g., “main.YK_1985_Trans,” “main.YK_1986_Trans,” “main.YK_1987_Trans,” etc.). The aerial transects were developed systematically from randomly-selected start points and created along constant lines of latitude. This data set provides the coordinates of plot centers, the area of each plot, plot type, and search history of the plot. Plots in this data set are linked through the combination of plot number and year provided in this file. Plot search history indicates if a plot was searched for nests. Plot shape and area has varied through time. After 1985, plot were selected by stratified random sampling, and after 1998 by simple random sampling from the area defined in ‘YKD Nest Plot Study Area Boundary.’ Plot shape has also varied but after 1998 was generally 1/4 by 1/2 mile.

In 2019 a pilot study was conducted to determine the feasibility of using distance sampling to estimate density and population size of goose and eider nests on the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta (YKD). Distance sampling (Buckland et al. 2001) is a common and well-understood method to estimate wildlife population size or density, especially for sparse and hard-to-detect populations. A main advantage of distance sampling is that it accounts for imperfect detection and gives precise estimates for a given level of effort relative to other methods. Fibrous erionite, a zeolite mineral, has been designated as a human carcinogen by the World Health Organization and is believed to be the cause of extraordinarily high rates of malignant mesothelioma and other asbestos - related diseases in several villages in Central Turkey. A recent study by the University of Hawaii in collaboration with the U. S.
