This dataset is a component of a complete package of products from the Connect the Connecticut project. Connect the Connecticut is a collaborative effort to identify shared priorities for conserving the Connecticut River Watershed for future generations, considering the value of fish and wildlife species and the natural ecosystems they inhabit. Click here to download the full data package, including all documentation. This dataset represents the climate response index for Northern Waterthrush. Climate response is one of several different measures of landscape capability that reflect different decisions (or assumptions) regarding how to incorporate current versus future land use and climate changes. The climate response...

NOTE: The data are available online four times based on four different attributes (the current, plus 2 degrees C, plus 4 degrees C, and plus 6 degrees C probability of occurrence), the dataset is the same and the download includes the layer files for all the attributes, you do NOT need to download the data more than once. This dataset is one of a suite of products from the Nature’s Network project (naturesnetwork.org). Nature’s Network is a collaborative effort to identify shared priorities for conservation in the Northeast, considering the value of fish and wildlife species and the natural areas they inhabit. Brook Trout probability of occurrence is intended to provide predictions of occupancy (probability of presence)...

This data product contains estimates of habitat connectivity for desert bighorn sheep. The analysis area was a 236,000 square kilometers that encompassed the Navajo Nation, which includes portions of Arizona, New Mexico, and Utah. The estimates of habitat quality were created with spatially explicit habitat variables and either an expert-based linear combination process (for mountain lion and mule deer) or a generalized linear mixed model-based estimation that used radio-collar telemetry data (for desert bighorn sheep, black bear, and pronghorn; collected between 2005-2011). Habitat variables varied among species but included vegetation type, terrain ruggedness, topographic position index (TPI), road density, distance...

The data are from the Sediment Placement Projects on Sandy Beaches in the U.S. Atlantic Coast Breeding Range of the Piping Plover (Charadrius melodus) prior to Hurricane Sandy. This dataset represents the approximate locations of sediment placement projects along the U.S. North Atlantic coast from Maine through Virginia prior to the time that Hurricane Sandy made landfall in October 2012.The sediment placement projects were identified as part of an inventory of habitat modifications to sandy beach habitat within the U.S. Atlantic Coast breeding range of the federally-threatened piping plover. Sediment placement projects included in the inventory were beach nourishment projects, storm damage reduction projects, beneficial...

This dataset was developed as part of the Designing Sustainble Landscapes project led by Professor Kevin McGarigal of UMass Amherst and sponsored by the North Atlantic Landscape Conservation Cooperative (https://www.fws.gov/science/catalog); for more information about the entire project see: http://www.umass.edu/landeco/research/dsl/dsl.htmlThis dataset was last updated 02/2017. The revised version incorporates the addition of a simplified version of The Nature Conservancy's Northeast lakes and ponds classification, visit https://www.conservationgateway.org/ConservationByGeography/NorthAmerica/UnitedStates/edc/reportsdata/freshwater/Pages/Northeast-Lakes.aspx for more details. This dataset represents terrestrial...

Estimated number of breeding pairs of Horned lark based on the amount of grass, trees, and/or hay in the landscape. Landscape scale varied from 1/4- to 2-mile radius depending on the species. Pair estimates were calculated for grass patches >=1 ha, extrapolated to 40-ac cells, then smoothed by averaging over a 1-mile radius. Models were based on point count surveys conducted in 2003-2005 throughout the Tallgrass Prairie Pothole Region. Point count locations were stratified by cover type, the amount of grass in the landscape, and USFWS Wetland Management District boundaries. Landcover data were derived from 2000 Thematic Mapper imagery. Grid values = number of breeding pairs per 30-m pixel.

Proxy herbaceous land (Grassland/Pasture & Other Hay/Non-Alfalfa classes) patches, minimum size - 10 acres, from the 2013 Cropland Data Layer within the Mississippi River Basin and used to evaluate landscape context of grazing land. May include pasture or hay lands in addition to native grasslands.

This dataset shows modelled habitat suitability for the American Beaver (Castor canadensis) under current and projected future conditions. We built habitat suitability models for 237 bird, 117 mammal, and 12 amphibian species. Species were chosen for inclusion in the study based on a simple set of criteria. For a species to be included in the study, it had to be primarily associated with terrestrial habitats, have a digital map of its current range, and have some portion of its current distribution intersect with the study area extent. In addition, we restricted the list of species used in the study to those for which a well-performing continental-scale model could be built. Digital species range maps were converted...

The Cooperative Land Cover Map is a project to develop an improved statewide land cover map from existing sources and expert review of aerial photography. The project is directly tied to a goal of Florida's State Wildlife Action Plan (SWAP) to represent Florida's diverse habitats in a spatially-explicit manner. The Cooperative Land Cover Map integrates 3 primary data types: 1) 6 million acres are derived from local or site-specific data sources, primarily on existing conservation lands. Most of these sources have a ground-truth or local knowledge component. We collected land cover and vegetation data from 37 existing sources. Each dataset was evaluated for consistency and quality and assigned a confidence category...

This dataset has many data layers. They each represent the potential habitat for an individual species in Florida. These species habitats modeled in this dataset belong to species that have been designated to have conservation need. Potential habitat includes areas that have been occupied by the species and areas where occupancy is unknown based on available occurrence records. In 1994, researchers in the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission completed a project, entitled Closing The Gaps in Florida's Wildlife Habitat Conservation System (Cox et al 1994), assessing the security of rare and imperiled species on existing conservation lands in Florida. These biologists used a variety of species occurrence...
