The California Coast Range are an area with a long-lived deformation history which includes modern, ongoing right lateral strike slip faulting. Large strike slip faults in the region include the San Andreas fault, the Maacama fault, the Bartlett Springs fault among many others. In areas where strike slip fault geometry changes, either in restraining or releasing bends, vertical motion may occur in response to dominant right-lateral deformation. Channel steepness and chi data may be used to identify areas of recent uplift where the bedrock hardness and local precipitation gradients are known. The Hamilton Wetland Restoration Project (HWRP) is a joint venture between the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE; San Francisco District) and the California State Coastal Conservancy. The site is located on the property of the former Hamilton Army Airfield in Novato, California, along the western edge of San Pablo Bay, which is part of northern San Francisco Bay. The initial stages of wetland restoration, which included dredged sediment reuse, took place during 2009–2011. From 2011 until April 2014, the site was maintained as partially flooded through a temporary one-way culvert that allowed bay water onto the site. A generic, three-dimensional finite-difference model, MODFLOW-2005 (version 1.12.00) and MODPATH-6 (version 6.0.01), was created to better understand the amount of vertical flow and cross-contamination of trichloroethene (TCE) that may be occurring in discontinued extraction wells under current (2018-19) ambient-flow conditions at site 25 of the Edwards Air Force Base, California. Samples of silicified wood remnants from 8 trees were collected under research permit YELL-SCI-8030 on June 17, 2023, and on September 19, 2023 adjacent to Artemisia Geyser in the Upper Geyser Basin of Yellowstone National Park. Samples were collected for radiocarbon (14C) dating of the wood to determine when the trees grew. Trees do not grow on active geyser mounds (Hurwitz and others, 2020, 2024) and therefore, trees grew around Artemisia Geyser during a protracted period of eruption quiescence. A series of field measurements of surface water velocity derived from video and Doppler velocity radar collected by small unoccupied aircraft systems (sUAS) and portable sensors were collected at seven locations in Colorado, USA, during the summer of 2023. Monroe County, in southeastern West Virginia, hosts world-class karst within carbonate units of Mississippian and Ordovician age. There are at least 412 known caves in the county. Location data for these caves were collected from the West Virginia Speleological Survey (WVASS) Bulletin 22 (Dasher, 2019). Point features were created in ArcGIS Pro for each cave location and were used to make a point density raster. This raster displays the number of cave points per square kilometer.
