Model Inputs: Midwest Climate Change Vulnerability Assessment for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service
This data release contains the climate change model inputs and Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) model outputs from 360 HUC-8 watersheds in the Midwest United States (Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, and Wisconsin), that were generated using the HAWQS (Hydrologic and Water Quality System) platform (https://hawqs.tamu.edu). The summarized data for a watershed-based climate change vulnerability assessment for U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is also provided, along with the R code used to summarize the raw outputs. These data provide spatial information about USGS 3D Elevation Program (3DEP) Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) and Data Collaboration Announcement (DCA) lidar data acquisition projects from Fiscal Year (FY) 2015 to present, including the FY, state, project name, project size, award recipient, lidar quality level (QL), contracting mechanism, and project description.
In 2022, publication and data linkages were evaluated using two methods in an effort to understand how a data citation workflow has been implemented by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) since the 2016 USGS instructional memorandum, Public Access to Results of Federally Funded Research at the U.S. Geological Survey: Scholarly Publications and Digital Data (USGS OSQI, 2016), went into effect, requiring USGS data be assigned a DOI, be accompanied by a citation, and be referenced from the associated publication (USGS OSQI, 2017). This data release includes data and publication structural metadata results retrieved from the USGS DOI Tool and Crossref APIs and Jupyter notebooks used to process and analyze the results.

These data were compiled to provide a quantitative, spatially explicit estimate of ecological resilience and resistance (R&R) under ambient and projected future climate conditions. Objective of our study was to understand where and why climate change will alter the distribution of ecological resilience and resistance in the sagebrush biome throughout the 21st century. To accomplish this, we pursued four specific objectives: we estimated the new R&R indicators under future climate conditions and quantified changes from historical conditions; we developed a continuous R&R index that integrates probability information from the underlying predictive R&R models; we assessed the robustness of projected changes in R&R...
Mainstem rivers are the backbone of a connected network of hydrologic units that cover the landscape. A mainstem connects a headwater source area to an outlet. This data release identifies the same mainstem paths in hydrographic datasets for the conterminous US. The Mainstems dataset includes cross walks between mainstem identifiers and several hydrographic datasets. These cross walk tables do not include geometry. It also includes a summary of all mainstems with headwater and outlet identifiers from other datasets for those mainstems that could be matched. The summary table has highly simplified geometry and should be used for visualization purposes only. Any analysis should rely on source dataset geometry. As...

These data were compiled to monitor potential changes in vegetation and soil properties to indicate recovery of reclaimed oil and gas sites with time since reclamation and allow for the comparison of reclaimed well pads with reference sites of similar site characteristics. Objective(s) of our study were to identify the recovery patterns of (1) individual soil characteristics and (2) holistic multivariate soil recovery as well as (3) determine how site properties and environmental factors affect reclamation outcomes. These data represent observations of 134 reclaimed oil and gas well pads. These data were collected by Assessment Inventory and Monitoring (AIM) certified field crews using field observations and AIM...
