In 2006, the Century Commission for a Sustainable Florida called for an identification of those lands and waters in the state that are critical to the conservation of Florida’s natural resources. In response, the Florida Natural Areas Inventory, University of Florida GeoPlan Center, and Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission collaborated to produce CLIP - the Critical Lands and Waters Identification Project. This project will integrate the shared priorities developed by the Arid Lands Initiative (ALI) in the Columbia Plateau ecoregion into implementation mechanisms of existing and new ALI partners. The project will finalize the ALIs comprehensive strategy by assessing and agreeing on which partners are best positioned to implement which priority actions in which priority areas, integrate these priorities into existing partner work, identify gaps that new partners need to be engaged to address, design 1-2 ALI projects for collaborative implementation, and track and adapt the overall implementation efforts. Pilot Basins are HU-4 basins where there is an alignment of ecological and production systems of interest with areas thought to be producing significant agricultural nutrient loads and possessing significant implementation interests. These provisional basins represent areas of greatest opportunity in terms of need and potential for conservation delivery. Two tiers of pilot basins were identified for version 1.02 of the Conservation Blueprint. Tier 1 pilot basins have the highest nutrient load potential and the highest amount of watershed implementation interest, while Tier 2 pilot basins have either lower load potential or lower watershed implementation interest than Tier 1 pilot basins. Ducks Unlimited CPC (Conservation Program Committee) approved focus areas for conservation easements and land acquisitions within the Mississippi River Basin. These regions are very important to DU's habitat restoration and enhancement.Focus areas are designated by DU Board for acquiring conservation easements and land acquisitions without going through three board committees for approval. Only DU's internal board reviews any new easements or acquisitions in focus areas.

Sum of all conservation focus areas (CFA) for a particular area (UPDATED TO INCLUDE CONSERVATION PRIORITIES DELINEATED IN LATEST STATE WILDLIFE ACTION PLANS (ca. 2015/2016)). These focus areas include both those delineated at the state scale as well as regionally. Conservation Opportunity Areas (COA) are intended to guide conservation activities at a landscape level. Landscape conservation is a developing theme across the country and throughout Indiana. Building off the successes of other Indiana landscape initiatives, like Goose Pond Fish and Wildlife Area and the Healthy Rivers Initiative, Indiana DFW has identified opportunities on the landscape to focus conservation efforts over the next decade. These COA were identified as a way to direct actions toward specific areas on Indiana’s landscape.

This digital version of the original vegetation cover map can be used to identify regional changes in land cover since the time when the state was first surveyed. This data is not intended for landscape-scale analysis.This is a polygon shapefile derived from a 1:500,000-scale map showing the original, pre-settlement vegetation cover in Wisconsin. The original vegetation cover data was digitized from a 1976 map created from land survey notes written in the mid-1800s when Wisconsin was first surveyed. Linework representing lakes and other hydrographic areas in other data sets were subsequently merged with the original vegetation cover data set to more closely match the source map.
This project entails creation and refinement of the conservation targets for the terrestrial Priority Resources for the Peninsular Florida Landscape Conservation Cooperative. Potential Conservation Targets were developed through stakeholder Workshops held throughout the State of Florida in 2016/2017. Lists of potential CTs were generated through brainstorming and general discussion and stakeholders ranked the final list for suitability for using as a measure of Priority Resource health.

Systematic conservation planning is well suited to address the many large-scale biodiversity conservation challenges facing the Appalachian region. However, broad, well-connected landscapes will be required to sustain many of the natural resources important to this area into the future.
