This dataset provides transboundary census information in the Crown of the Continent Ecosystem. In Canada the data are from the 2011 census collected at the dissemination block level, in the United States the data are assembled from the 2010 census. Data on total population and total dwellings in each census unit are available. This dataset was developed by the Crown Managers Partnership, as part of a transboundary collaborative management initiative for the Crown of the Continent Ecosystem, based on commonly identified management priorities that are relevant at the landscape scale. For the Crown of the Continent Ecosystem (CCE), the riparian ecosystem was classified using three existing layers: I) a streams network, II) a water class of the landcover layer, and III) a 22 meter digital elevation model (DEM).NOTE: There were minor issues with data integrity, as the water class of the landcover layer and the streams layer were not mutually exclusive: it was found that lakes were often represented as streams. Existing stream temperature data were compiled from numerous federal, state, tribal, and private sources to develop an integrated regional database. Spatial statistical models for river networks were applied to these data to develop an accurate model that predicts stream temperature for all fish-bearing streams in the US portion of the GNLCC. We propose a regional assessment of aquatic species vulnerabilities and responses to climate change as the basis for adaptive management for aquatic ecosystems in the Great Northern LCC, using the Transboundary Flathead Ecosystem as a case example. This region encompasses a complex mix of federal, state, tribal, and private lands in the US and federal, provincial and private lands in Canada. The goal of this study is to use eDNA as a cost effective tool for documenting the occurrence and distribution of ESA-listed spring-chinook (Oncorhynchus tshawytscha) throughout the Okanogan and Methow watersheds in an effort to map habitat use and connectivity. Our approach will use eDNA to detect low density spring-chinook in filtered water samples to inventory distribution and re-colonization of tributaries at strategically-sampled points throughout entire stream networks. The Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation (CTUIR) has been working collaboratively with the Bureau of Land Management and US Forest Service (USFS) to inventory and map current and potential distributions of plant communities which support species of cultural concern on federal lands. These data represent modeled stream temperatures for a portion of a larger dataset known as the Great Northern Landscape Conservation Cooperative (GNLCC) (https://www.fws.gov/science/catalog). This metadata record is a combined description for two spatial data feature types, vector lines and points, which cover the same geographic area. The line features are derived from NHDPlus (http://www.horizon-systems.com/NHDPlus/index.php) (USEPA and USGS, 2010) stream lines and the point data represent 1 km intervals along the NHDPlus stream network. Carnivore carcasses recorded by Montana Department of Transportation, Idaho Department of Fish & Game, and U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service were aggregated to the nearest mile marker for major roads of the U.S. Northern Rockies. Note that wildlife carcass collection and reporting protocols and frequency differ between states and among maintenance sections within states. This project builds from a body of work to support conservation planning and design for the Arid Lands Initiative (ALI) in the Columbia Plateau ecoregion. Previous work identified a suite of habitats and species along with their associated viability and stressors, as well as a portfolio of Priority Core Areas (PCAs) and high priority connectivity corridors.
