Individual county tables summarizing the inventoried acreage by crop type and irrigation system were compiled for 11 counties: Brevard, Clay, Duval, Flagler, Indian River, Nassau, Osceola, Putnam, Seminole, St. Johns, and Volusia. The irrigated acreage totals were derived from analyses of satellite and aerial imagery. Crop types and irrigation system types were verified during field trips that started in November 2022 and concluded in August 2023. In addition, the tables provide acreage totals by crop type reported by the U.S. Department of Agriculture from 1987 through 2017, and Florida Statewide Agricultural Irrigation Demand for 2019-20.

A shapefile of the extent of irrigated agricultural fields which includes an attribute table of the irrigated acreage for the period between January and December 2021 was compiled for Bay, Calhoun, Escambia, Franklin, Gadsden, Gulf, Holmes, Jackson, Leon, Liberty, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, Wakulla, Walton, and Washington Counties, Florida. These counties are fully within the Northwest Florida Water Management District boundaries. Attributes for each polygon that represents a field include a general or specific crop type, irrigation system, and primary water source for irrigation.

Understanding how changing climatic conditions affect streamflow volume and timing is critical for effective water management. In the Rio Grande Basin of the southwest U.S., decreasing snowpack, increasing minimum temperatures, and decreasing streamflow have been observed in recent decades, but the effects of hydroclimatic changes on baseflow, or groundwater discharge to streams, have not been investigated. TEON uses a “nested” approach to data collection. The smallest unit within TEON is a Station. Stationsinclude discrete sampling locations or units (e.g., plot or transect) where repeated measures of a givenvariable are collected to create a time-series. Data collected at a station may be relevant to localconditions (e.g., soil temperature at a given site) or applicable to a larger area (e.g., streamgage locatedat the lower end of a watershed). A Site is a collection of stations that are typically located within closeproximity to each other. Sites are grouped into Watersheds. Watersheds will encompass many ecotypes and span multiple ecoregions. Watersheds in aggregate form the TEON network.

This dataset features inundated areas connected to the main channel at discharges from 15,000 cfs to 95,000 cfs. The spatial extent for floodplain inundation modeling in the lower Trinity River was from Romayor, Texas, to approximately Moss Bluff, Texas. River sections were modeled using steady flow conditions. For the upper section, discharge and stage were both available for the two gages (Romayor USGS 08066500 and Liberty USGS 08067000). A comprehensive study of water quality in two streams was conducted in the Midwestern United States in 1999 to 2003. The Iroquois River and Sugar Creek, located in northwestern Indiana and northeastern Illinois have been heavily impacted by agricultural land use and contain relatively high concentrations of inorganic nitrogen, primarily as nitrate. As part of that study, samples were collected and analyzed for dissolved methane and nitrous oxide concentrations to determine greenhouse gas (GHG) concentrations in the streams and the relation of GHG concentrations to concentrations of other inorganic nitrogen species in the water. Monthly water yields for 105,829 catchments and corresponding flows for 107,691 stream segments were estimated for water years 1951-2012 in the United States part of the Great Lakes Basin. Estimates were computed using the AFINCH (Analysis of Flows In Networks of CHannels) application within the NHDPlus geospatial data framework. AFINCH provides an environment to develop constrained regression models to integrate monthly streamflow and water-use data with monthly climatic data and fixed basin characteristics data available within NHDPlus or supplied by the user.
