The USGS’s FORE-SCE model was used to produce land-use and land-cover (LULC) projections for the conterminous United States. The projections were originally created as part of the "LandCarbon" project, an effort to understand biological carbon sequestration potential in the United States. However, the projections are being used for a wide variety of purposes, including analyses of the effects of landscape change on biodiversity, water quality, and regional weather and climate. Landslides are a common hazard on FSM and identified as a significant risk to human life by the CDC. In 1997, tropical storms (TS) triggered landslides in Pohnpei that resulted in 20 fatalities, impacting 14 homes. In 2002, a TS triggered over 250 landslides in Chuuk resulting in 47 fatalities and impacting 231 structures, totaling $100 million in damages. FSM has also been impacted by disastrous landslides in 1991, 1992, 2004, and 2018 – and certainly many other unreported landslides. Following the 2002 event, the CDC found that “increasing knowledge of natural warnings can reduce the risk for mortality during landslides.” As a first step, knowing what areas are susceptible to landslide hazards is key. This data release contains reference baselines for primarily open-ocean sandy beaches along the west coast of the United States (California, Oregon and Washington). The slopes were calculated while extracting shoreline position from lidar point cloud data collected between 2002 and 2011. The shoreline positions have been previously published, but the slopes have not. A reference baseline was defined and then evenly-spaced cross-shore beach transects were created. Then all data points within 1 meter of each transect were associated with each transect. This data release provides digital flight line data for a high-resolution airborne magnetic and radiometric survey over parts of Montana in the vicinity of the Boulder Batholith. The airborne survey was jointly funded by the Earth Mapping Resources Initiative and Kennecott Exploration Company. The survey was designed to meet complementary needs related to geologic mapping and characterization of mineral resource potential. A total of 34,041 line km of magnetic and radiometric data were acquired over an irregular-shaped area of 6178 km. The Coastal Storm Modeling System (CoSMoS) makes detailed predictions (meter-scale) over large geographic scales (100s of kilometers) of storm-induced coastal flooding and erosion for both current conditions and future SLR scenarios, and in many locations, there are additional products for long-term shoreline change, cliff retreat, and groundwater hazards.  Resulting projections for future climate scenarios (sea-level rise and storms) provide emergency responders and coastal planners with critical storm-hazards information that can be used to increase public safety and mitigate physical damages to reduce risk, and more effectively manage and allocate resources to increase resilience in response to a changing climate...
