The Louisiana State Legislature created the Coastal Wetlands Planning, Protection and Restoration Act (CWPPRA) in order to conserve, restore, create and enhance Louisiana's coastal wetlands. The objective of this project was to create a shoreline inventory for Hawai‘i Island, the largest and most diverse island in the Hawaiian archipelago. This was done via the collection and processing of high-resolution (<4 cm) aerial imagery along the approximately 428 km long shoreline of Hawai‘i Island using a helicopter-mounted imaging system developed by the University of Hawai‘i at Hilo Spatial Data Analysis & Visualization (SDAV) research laboratory.
