These data were compiled to allow further understanding of how aboveground net primary production of different plant functional types in ecosystems along an elevation gradient in the southwestern U.S. respond to extreme changes in warm-season precipitation (drought and water addition) associated with the North American Monsoon. The objectives of the study were to 1) determine how primary production responds to warm-season precipitation extremes over time; 2) compare production sensitivities to warm-season precipitation (slopes of production – precipitation relationships) across an elevation gradient; 3) evaluate whether the sensitivity of production differed under extreme dry and wet years compared to ambient precipitation....

These data were compiled to assess the recovery of vegetation on reclaimed oil and gas sites. Objective(s) of our study were to assess patterns in reclamation outcomes relative to 1) soil attributes, climate, and time since 39 reclamation and 2) plant and soil reference benchmarks. These data represent observations of vegetation and soil cover from 134 reclaimed oil and gas well pads and 583 AIM reference plots. These data were collected on lands impacted by oil and gas development on the Colorado Plateau as well as Arizona and New Mexico Plateau of New Mexico, Colorado, and Utah. Data was collected from July- September of 2020 and May-September of 2021. These data were collected by Assessment Inventory and Monitoring...

Data presented are results of vegetation sampling conducted between December 2019 and February 2020 in 24 survey plots to document the status of infestation by shot hole borers (Euwallacea sp.) on the riparian vegetation at the San Diego River. This dataset presents location, percent cover of different vegetation types, and number of seedlings for each survey plot. In addition, for each tree and sapling in each plot we present species, size, tree status (live, resprouting, recently dead from shot hole borer, or dead from another cause or unknown cause), infestation status (infested by shot hole borer, not infested by shot hole borer, or infestation not confirmed as shot hole borer), and crown condition. For every...

Hydroacoustic estimates of fish density are used for fisheries management in central Lake Erie. Hydroacoustic data were collected along up to four cross-lake transects in central Lake Erie July 2010 through July 2019. Software-generated raw variables used for calculating estimates of hydroacoustic fish densities are presented here.

This product is the result of a comprehensive compilation of site-specific ground photographs taken where tectonic faulting and ground failure produced visible deformation that fractured and disturbed the ground surface. The resultant data is distributed as a tab-delimited text file. All post-earthquake photographs taken by investigators working for public agencies are in the public domain, including data that have been published in summary reports elsewhere.

Natural cave passages penetrating a coastal aquifer in the Yucatan Peninsula (Mexico) were accessed to test the hypothesis that chemoclines associated with salinity gradients (haloclines) within the flooded cave networks of the karst subterranean estuary are sites of methane oxidation. Two field trips were carried out to the fully-submerged cave system located 6.6 km inland from the coastline in January 2015 and January 2016. Vertical chemical profiles across the water column haloclines were obtained using the OctoPiPi (OPP), a high-resolution water sampler built by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). The sampling efforts resulted in cm-scale profiles of major ions (e.g., chloride and sulfate), as well as concentrations...

This data release comprises nearly three decades of measurements of sandbar topography for monitoring sites along the Colorado River in Grand Canyon National Park and Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. The data were collected to monitor the effects of the operations of Glen Canyon Dam on sandbars, which are also recreational campsites. The data were collected by the US Geological Survey Grand Canyon Monitoring and Research Center in cooperation with Northern Arizona University. Funding for data collection, processing, and reporting has been provided by the Glen Canyon Dam Adaptive Management Program administered by the US Department of the Interior Bureau of Reclamation.

This data consists of egg morphometric data from white-faced ibis. Eggs were collected in the field and then measured and dissected in the lab to obtain estimates of length, width and mass. This data supports the following publication: Herzog, M.P., Ackerman, J.T. and Hartman, C.A., 2021. Egg morphometrics and egg shape coefficients for White-faced Ibis (Plegadis chihi). The Wilson Journal of Ornithology.

This dataset includes depth and position measurements to estimate the cross-sectional geometry at sites in small streams throughout the United States.
These data were collected to estimate detection probability of Bombus affinis at known occupied sites in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, and Iowa in 2021. Data were also used to determine the effect of weather, observer experience, and habitat quality on Bombus affinis detection probability.

These datasets describe channel adjustments over a 60-year period to dams in the Missouri National Recreational River (MNRR), South Dakota and Nebraska. Datasets include a channel geometry analysis from cross-sections, banklines digitized and interpreted to predict future bank erosion sites from aerial photography, and models of floodplain inundation over a range of discharges. There are two MNRR segments, a 39-mile segment downstream from Fort Randall Dam, and a 59-mile segment downstream from Gavins Point Dam. Similar datasets were analyzed for each MNRR segment using similar methods.

This dataset contains observations used to better understand the initial establishment of sagebrush (Artemisia sp.), in the first 1-2 years post-wildfire. Field data come from 460 sagebrush populations sampled across the Great Basin and many GIS-derived co-variates are included as well.

This data release contains meteorological sensor data (6-minute intervals) collected at Great South Bay at Watch Hill on Fire Island (USGS station number, 01305575), New York, from 2017 to 2022. Measured parameters include: air pressure, air temperature, precipitation, relative humidity, solar radiation, wind direction and speed, and wind-gust direction and speed. Data users are encouraged to review the metadata for information on data quality and screening prior to use.

An intrusion into Kīlauea’s upper East Rift Zone during June 17–19, 2007, during the 1983–2018 Pu‘u‘ō‘ō eruption, led to widespread ground cracking and a small (~1,525 m3) eruption on the northeast flank of the Kānenuiohamo cone, about 6 km upslope from the Pu‘u‘ō‘ō vent. Transmitted and induced very-low-frequency (VLF) magnetic fields were measured with a handheld VLF receiver along transects spanning the dike trace, and zones of ground cracking related to the intrusion were mapped. This dataset records the density and vesicularity of selected lava and tephra samples collected from the June 2007 Father's Day eruption site. The density of the basalt erupted was determined by measuring the weight of spatter and lava...

These data were compiled to perform analyses of hydrologic change, changes in sediment transport, and channel change within Moenkopi Wash, Arizona. Objective(s) of our study were to quantify the magnitude and timing of changes in hydrology, sediment transport, and channel form within Moenkopi Wash and to determine the downstream effects of those changes on sediment delivery downstream to the Little Colorado River, and the Colorado River. These data represent instantaneous discharge records, suspended-sediment sample records, topographic survey data, historical aerial imagery, and channel polygons and centerlines mapped on the historical imagery. Instantaneous discharge records in this study began in 1926 and extend...

USGS Cuban Treefrog Invasion Front is a project within the AMMonitor community, which features projects that monitor wildlife and ecosystems with remotely deployed monitoring devices. Devices that capture media typically include trail cameras (photos, video) and/or autonomous recording units (audio). As with all AMMonitor projects, USGS Cuban Treefrog Invasion Front utilizes an AMMonitor SQLite database to track wildlife monitoring data in a standardized format, permitting cross-project collaboration. The monitoring data are released to the public in “volumes”. Releases include the raw media files and their metadata, including the date, time, and location of media capture. Additional attachments at the volume level...
