The mean MSAVI image is based on two Landsat 5 Thematic Mapper (TM) scenes representing midsummer conditions in 2007 and 2008. MSAVI was calculated for each image which were then combined by calculating the mean for each pixel in the scenes. The resultant MSAVI image was used to estimate vegetation assemblages (ET units) within a mapped groundwater discharge area.

This raster dataset represents groundwater-level change from 1970 to 2020 in Smith Valley and Mason Valley, Nevada, calculated using approach 2. For this approach, depth-to-water measurements from 53 monitoring wells, represented as point values, were differenced between 1970 and 2020. Point values of change were interpolated into a raster to calculate valley-wide groundwater-level change. Depth-to-water was measured at the same 53 wells in 1995, 2006, and 2020. Depth-to-water measurements for 1970 were calculated by interpolating groundwater-level contours and extracting point values at the monitoring well locations. Groundwater-level change was estimated using two methods (approach 1 and 2) to address groundwater-level...

This metadata record describes monthly estimates of natural baseflow for 15,866 stream reaches, defined by the National Hydrography Dataset Plus Version 2.0 (NHDPlusV2), in the Delaware River Basin for the period 1950-2015. A statistical machine learning technique - random forest modeling (Liaw and Wiener, 2018; R Core Team, 2020) - was applied to estimate natural flows using about 150 potential predictor variables (Miller and others, 2018). Calibration data used for the random forest model are available from (Foks and others, 2020). Each model was run twice, first using all potential predictor variables, which represents a "full" model run, and a second time using the top 20 predictors from the original run, which...

This dataset includes the magnetotelluric (MT) sounding data collected in 2009 in and near the San Luis Basin, New Mexico. The U.S. Geological Survey conducted a series of multidisciplinary studies, including MT surveys, in the San Luis Basin to improve understanding of the hydrogeology of the Santa Fe Group and the nature of the sedimentary deposits comprising the principal groundwater aquifers of the Rio Grande rift. The shallow unconfined and the deeper confined Santa Fe Group aquifers in the San Luis Basin are the main sources of municipal water for the region. The population of the San Luis Basin region is growing rapidly and water shortfalls could have serious consequences. Future growth and land management...

The U.S. Geological Survey, in cooperation with Wake County Environmental Services, initiated a comprehensive groundwater resource investigation to better understand the quantity and quality of groundwater in Wake County, North Carolina. In 2020, as part of the investigation, groundwater records were compiled electronically from 7,689 wells in and within five miles of Wake County and groundwater yield data was interpolated to estimate maximum well yield across the county. Maximum well yield values estimate the maximum well yield possible at a given location; the maximum well yield is not guaranteed and actual well yield likely falls within the range of 0 and the maximum well yield value. This data release includes...
