Permits to explore for and (or) develop mineral resources onFederal lands can be used to indicate locations and types ofmineral-related activities on national forests. Permits for theseactivities require filing of a Notice of Intent to conduct mineralexploration activities and (or) a Plan of Operation, ifsignificant land disturbance results. This compilation of noticesand plans for the Colville, Kaniksu, Okanogan, and Wenatcheenational forests between 1967 and 1998 is intended for use incombination with geologic and economic information to predictfuture mineral-related activities in the region.

This metadata file (pbrchseg.met) describes three shape files used.Shape file rivreach.shp contains the upstream and downstreamboundaries of seven reaches of the river. Natural features defineriver-reach boundaries at the confluence of the North and Southforks of the Coeur d'Alene (CdA) River, the transition from agravel- to a sand- bottomed channel, the mouth of the river, andthe base of the delta front. Other river-reach boundaries are atmidpoints between river-channel drill transects. This is a spatial database that delineates mining-relatedfeatures in areas of historic and active phosphate mining in thecore of the southeastern Idaho phosphate resource area. The datahas varying degrees of accuracy and attribution detail. Thebreakdown of areas by type of activity at active mines isdetailed; however, the disturbed areas at many of the closed orinactive mines are not subdivided into specific categoriesdetailing the type of activity that occurred.
Geochemical analyses of soils and sediments, Coeur d'Al�nedrainage basin, Idaho: Sampling, analytical methods, and results.
This report presents the results of over 1100 geochemicalanalyses of samples of soil and sediment from the Coeur d'Al�ne(CdA) drainage basin in northern Idaho. The location(in 3 dimensions) and a lithological description of each sampleis included with the laboratory analytical data. Methods ofsample location, collection, preparation, digestion andgeochemical analysis are described. Five differentlaboratories contributed geochemical data for this reportand the quality control procedures used by each laboratoryare described. Comparison of the analytical accuracy andprecision of each laboratory is given by comparing analysesof standard reference materials and of splits of CdA samples.These geochemical data are presented...
Most information was obtained from MRDS (U. S. Geological SurveyMineral Resource Data System). The data was put into GSMODS (a USGSdesigned database). The data was modified by field examination by theauthors. An arc output was generated from GSMODS and a point coveragewas created.
