Reelfoot Lake, in northwestern Tennessee and southwestern Kentucky, is home to a Federal wildlife refuge, a State wildlife-management area, and to a tourism industry that is based on hunting, fishing, birding, and the area’s unique cultural history. In 2012, the U.S. Geological Survey, in cooperation with the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, began a series of hydrologic investigations to support the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in managing lake level. The objective was to develop operational models that preserved the historic patterns of variability that had characterized the lake for the past 60 years while meeting seasonal water-level targets (Heal and others, 2022). Preliminary models for gate operations...

This dataset includes input and output data from streamflow and water-quality regression models used to characterize streamflow and water-quality conditions in the Upper White River Basin, Colorado, from 2000 to 2020. All input data, including discrete and continuous streamflow records and discrete concentrations of inorganic nitrogen, total nitrogen, and total phosphorus, were compiled from the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) National Water Information System (NWIS) database. Input data were used in multiple models including Maintenance of Variance Extension Type 2 (MOVE.2) and Weighted Regressions on Time, Discharge, and Season (WRTDS) to estimate continuous streamflow records, daily concentrations and loads, and...
This dataset utilized available water-quality data from the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality and streamflow from the U.S. Geological Survey to estimate total nitrogen and total phosphorus loads and changes in loads from water years 2008 through 2018. Nutrient loads and changes in loads were estimated at 22 state ambient water-quality network sites, and were estimated using LOADEST regression models, Beale-Ratio Estimator, or WRTDS (Weighted Regression on Time, Discharge, and Season). The method selected is based on the evaluation of the flux-bias statistic and use of multiple graphical tools through EGRET to identify and characterize issues with particular models for each given dataset and is included...

This data release contains a comma-delimited ascii file of eleven same-day, discrete discharge measurements made at sites along selected reaches of Waikoloa Stream, Keanu'i'omanō Stream, and Wai'ula'ula Gulch, Hawai'i on October 27, 2021. These discrete discharge measurements form what is commonly referred to as a “seepage run.” The intent of the seepage run is to quantify the spatial distribution of streamflow along the reach during fair-weather, low-flow conditions, generally characterized by negligible direct runoff within the reach. The measurements can be used to characterize the net seepage of water into (water gain) or out of (water loss) the stream channel between measurement sites provided that the measurements...

This data release has been deprecated. Please see new data release here: https://doi.org/10.5066/P9CIK9ZF. This data release documents the digital data used to produce flood-inundation maps for a range of gage heights (stages) for the Sabinal River near Utopia, Tex. The simulated flood-inundation maps correspond to a range in stage from 7 to 24 feet (ft) at U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) streamgage 08197970 Sabinal River at Utopia, Tex. at intervals of 0.5-ft. The maps were created for a 10-mile reach of the Sabinal River from USGS streamgage 08197936 Sabinal River below Mill Creek near Vanderpool, Tex., at the upstream boundary of the study reach, to USGS streamgage 08197970 Sabinal River at Utopia, Tex. (hereinafter...
An integrated hydrologic-flow model, called the Central Platte Integrated Hydrologic Model, was constructed using the MODFLOW-One-Water Hydrologic Model code with the Newton solver. This code integrates climate, landscape, surface water, and groundwater-flow processes in a fully coupled approach. This study provided the Central Platte Natural Resources District (CPNRD) with an advanced numerical modeling tool to assist with the update of their Groundwater Management Plan by providing them information on modeled future GW levels under different climate scenarios and management practices. This tool will allow the CPNRD to evaluate other scenarios as management changes in the future. A predevelopment model simulated...
This data release contains a comma-delimited ascii file of five same-day, discrete discharge measurements made at sites along selected reaches of South Hālawa Stream, North Hālawa Stream, and Hālawa Stream, Oʻahu, Hawaiʻi on December 28, 2021. These discrete discharge measurements form what is commonly referred to as a “seepage run.” The intent of the seepage run is to quantify the spatial distribution of streamflow along the reach during fair-weather, low-flow conditions, generally characterized by negligible direct runoff within the reach. Our objective was to model specific mean daily flow (mean daily flow divided by drainage area [cubic feet per second per square mile]) on small, ungaged streams in the Upper Colorado River Basin. Modeling streamflows is an important tool for understanding landscape-scale drivers of flow and estimating flows where there are no gaged records. We focused our study in the Upper Colorado River Basin, a region that is not only critical for water resources but also projected to experience large future climate shifts toward a drier climate. We used a random forest modeling approach to model the relation between specific mean daily flow on gaged streams (115 gages) and environmental variables. We then projected specific mean...
Our objective was to model specific minimum flow (mean of the annual minimum flows divided by drainage area [cubic feet per second per square mile]) on small, ungaged streams in the Upper Colorado River Basin. This data release contains inputs for and outputs from hydrologic simulations for the conterminous United States (CONUS) using the Precipitation Runoff Modeling System (PRMS) version 5.1.0 and the USGS National Hydrologic Model Infrastructure (NHMI, Regan and others, 2018). Historical simulations using the Maurer forcings (Maurer and others, 2002) were conducted for the period 1950-2010. This metadata record documents the simulation output files for simulations ran using the dynamic parameters file. The output files are aggregated at the HUC4 level and are grouped and downloadable by HUC2 hydrologic region. Each zip folder contains identical information, just for a different region and set of hydrologic response...
The continental United States (CONUS) was modeled to produce simulations of historical and potential future streamflow using the Precipitation-Runoff Modeling System (PRMS) application of the USGS National Hydrologic Model Infrastructure (NHMI; Regan and others, 2018). This child page specifically contains atmospheric forcings (daily minimum air temperature, daily maximum air temperature, and daily precipitation accumulation) from each of the global circulation models (GCMs) presented in table1_GCMs_used.csv, using the Representative Concentration Pathway 4.5 for simulating potential future streamflow for the period 2006 - 2100.
