This USGS data release consists of three data sets used as the basis for estimates of groundwater discharge from evapotranspiration in Tule Valley and part of Sevier Valley, UT. The data sets are a mapped groundwater discharge area (GDA), a mean modified soil adjusted vegetation index (MSAVI), and evapotranspiration (ET) units derived from the MSAVI within the GDA. The GDA represents the area within each valley where discharge from evaporation by open water or bare soil and transpiration from phreatophytic plants exceeds the volume of water contributed by precipitation. The GDA was delineated during field reconnaissance of the study area using techniques similar to those used in previous studies throughout Nevada...

These data represent the extent and spatial distribution of irrigated acreage delineated from maximum Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) derived from Landsat scenes in the Walker River Basin, California and Nevada, at five-year intervals from 1975-2010. The field boundaries in this data set are digitized from one-year composite maximum NDVI data derived from atmospherically corrected Landsat 2 Multispectral Scanner (MSS), Landsat 5 MSS, and Landsat 5 Thematic Mapper (TM) scenes. NDVI was calculated from the corrected reflectance data for each selected scene during the growing season (May through early October) and a single, composite image of maximum NDVI values was derived for each 5-year interval. Selecting...

This digital vector dataset represents the Northern Nevada Rift as published in an article describing the relationship of epithermal gold deposits to large-scale fractures in Northern Nevada (Ponce and Glen, 2002). The data are represented on figures 1-5 in the source publication and were later provided in an Esri shapefile via written communication from D.A. Ponce in 2017. An attribute field was added to distinguish the northern Nevada rift-east, northern Nevada rift-central, and northern Nevada rift-west.

This data release contains depth-to-groundwater, water withdrawal, and analyses associated with multiple aquifer tests conducted between March 2017 and April 2018 in Lovelock, NV. Seven slug tests, one single-well pumping test, and two multi-well pumping tests were conducted to evaluate properties of the Lahontan clays and silts, fluvial deposits, and coarser, water-bearing deposits of the Younger Alluvium. Data and analyses are presented in folders named according to type of test and aquifer analyzed, as described in the larger work.

A 3-dimensional (3D) synthetic model, built for running with MODFLOW-NWT and MT3D-USGS, explores the new unsaturated zone heat transport capabilities in MT3D-USGS. Model simulations explore potential responses to within a watershed to climate warming along system pathways. The response analysis uses output from a 30-year warming period on a synthetic watershed patterned after a humid temperate climate which incorporates two variable unsaturated thickness configurations, shallow and deep groundwater flow, and discharge to streams and other surface-water bodies. The climate forcing data in this archive relies on trends and noise from global climate model (GCM) simulations for the northern continental U.S. as it moves...

This USGS data release consists of three datasets representing three derived outlets or "pour points" for each 12-digit hydrologic unit (HU12) in the Watershed Boundary Dataset (WBD) snapshot delivered with NHDPlus V2.1. The three related pour point locations, each delivered in a stand-alone dataset, are: "from" (fpp) and "to" (tpp) points that identify the location where flow leaves the HU12 polygon based on a flow direction raster, and a third "vector pour point" (vpp) selected "upstream" used to identify flow confluences near the "from" and "to" pour point locations. The points are derived from the NHDPlus V2.1 flow direction rasters and the WBD snapshot delivered with NHDPlus V2.1.
