This bulletin was prepared to meet the demand for accurate information on the clay resources in the Piedmont province. Provided is an extensive descriptive text on clay localities, the origin of the clays, mineral composition, physical descriptions, test results, and a description of the clay-working industry and its future. The field work on which this report is based was carried out in 1915 and the laboratory tests were completed during the following winter. Out-of-print.

The report describes the structural conditions in the fenster area of the Cumberland overthrust block. The exposed rocks in the area range in age from Upper Cambrian to Upper Devonian.
