The rivers and streams of the Southeastern United States are extremely diverse, containing numerous threatened and endangered species. In fact, southeastern rivers contain more at-risk freshwater fish and invertebrates than any other region of the country. The anthropogenic fragmentation of river habitats through dams and poorly designed culverts is one of the primary threats to aquatic species in the United States. The impact of fragmentation on aquatic species generally involves loss of access to quality habitat for one or more life stages of a species. For example, dams and impassable culverts limit the ability of anadromous fish species to reach preferred spawning habitats and prevent brook trout populations...
This project utilizes projected visualization of land cover conditions for the state of Florida at three future time periods. Simulated projected future conditions also vary by patterns in development, levels and types of conservation, and sea level rise. These visualized scenarios afford the opportunity to examine a range of possible outcomes for land use and land cover, and use these scenarios to evaluate the impacts on potential habitat distributions for focal species. For this project, focal species were centered within the Florida Panther National Wildlife Refuge and impacts. The methodology for this project includes four major steps, which have been found to be effective in previous scenario analyses with...

The Gap Analysis Program (GAP) Land Cover Viewer displays data on the vegetation and land use patterns of the continental United States. The GAP Land Cover Data Version 2.2 provides detailed information on the vegetation of the United States using consistent satellite base data and classification systems. This allows data users to make conservation or land use planning decisions for the entire range of a habitat type across administrative boundaries. GAP Land Cover Data Version 2.2 combines ecological system data from previous GAP projects in the Southwest, Southeast, and Northwest United States with recently updated California data. For Alaska ,and areas of the continental United States, where ecological system-level...

Formed by practitioners in Washington and British Columbia’s Cascade mountains in the summer of 2012, the Cascadia Partner Forum fosters a network of natural resource practitioners working with the Great Northern and North Pacific Landscape Conservation Cooperatives to build the adaptive capacity of the landscape and species living within it.
This gallery in Data Basin contains GIS data sets for each state in the U.S., showing crop-specific land cover. Data are from USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) and are produced from satellite imagery.

The Gap Analysis Program's (GAP) Species Viewer allows users to explore, download, and create maps of vertebrate species ranges and models developed by GAP. The Viewer displays data on vertebrate species ranges and distribution models for the continental U.S. as well as Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and U.S. Virgin Islands. More specifically, species distribution models based on deductive modeling of habitat associations are displayed across entire species ranges for over 2000 species. The goal is to build species range maps and distribution models with the best available data for assessing conservation status, conservation planning, and research (e.g., climate change impacts). Ranges are represented by 12-digit...

This version of the Simple Viewer displayed the South Atlantic Conservation Blueprint 2.2 at the subwatershed and marine lease block scale. In this interface you could also find information about other landscape scale conservation plans, land cover, and protection status.
The Climate Science Alliance - South Coast is a partnership formed to develop and support a network of conservation leaders, scientists, and natural resource managers focused on sharing ecosystem-based resiliency approaches to safeguard our communities and natural resources from climate change risks.

As part of a suite of aquatic habitat assessments and tools designed to support conservation efforts in the Northeast region, the environmental consulting firm Downstream Strategies developed predictive models for estuarine habitat in Narragansett Bay and Long Island Sound, using winter flounder as the focal species to pilot the approach. This study describes the development of a flexible modeling process that can help scientists better understand the distribution, status, threats, and relative abundance of resources in dynamic aquatic habitats. The winter flounder results are built into the Fish Habitat Decision Support Tool website. The website also includes tutorial videos and additional help.

This product results from one of 5 subprojects of the North Atlantic LCC funded NROC project, “Demonstrations & Science Delivery Networks for Coastal Resilience Information in the Northeast”. Coastal storm and flood risk data were generated through the North Atlantic Coast Comprehensive Study (NAACS), an initative of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. In order to make this data widely available, the Northeast Regional Ocean Council (NROC) funded the development of a database and web services that provide streamlined access to high-resolution data on coastal storm and flood risk in the Northeast. Produced by a team from RPS ASA, the database includes projections for future climate scenarios and is a valuable resource...

The Blueprint 2.2 Data Gallery is a website dedicated to the final Blueprint 2.2 spatial data. This website is located on the South Atlantic Landscape Conservation Cooperative’s Conservation Planning Atlas. On this website, users can explore the final Blueprint 2.2 spatial data as well as the spatial data used to create Blueprint 2.2. This website features an interactive mapping feature so that users who do not have access to desktop GIS can explore the spatial data.
This tool allows users to view aquatic barriers (dams, road-stream crossings) by the relative gain in ecological value if they were removed. Users start with a consensus map of anadromous fish priorities, which was developed based on stakeholder input as part of the North Atlantic Aquatic Connectivity Collaborative (NAACC). Beyond the consensus results, interested users can create their own scenarios by filtering input barriers to limit the analysis to a given state or watershed, changing the weights of metrics according to their importance to the analysis objectives (e.g. length of upstream network connected, number of diadromous fish present, etc.) and by modeling the removal of up to 10 barriers. The link address...
Evapotranspiration is the process by which water is transferred from the soil or land surface to the atmosphere. It is the sum of direct evaporation from the ground and transpiration from plants. The Operational Simplified Surface Energy Balance (SSEBop) is a remote-sensing based model that provides actual evapotranspiration estimates. SSEBop uses the Simplified Surface Energy Balance (SSEBop) model and ET fractions from NASA's Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) and predefined parameters for operational applications. This SSEBop layer is a time-enabled image service. It is a live feed layer that is updated automatically once a month.
The NC CSC has collaborated with the USGS AmericaView program to deploy cameras that will record phenology throughout the region. Although, not all cameras were deployed throught AmericaView, they were deployed at the following sites: Ashland Bottoms, Kansas Bangtail Study Area in Bozeman, Montana Central Plains Experimental Range, Colorado Grand River Grasslands, Iowa Grand Teton National Park National Elk Refuge, Wyoming Nine Mile Prairie, University of Nebraska, Nebraska Oakville Prairie, North Dakota Poudre Learning Center, Colorado Sagebrush Steppe, Wyoming Earth Resources Observation and Science Center, South Dakota

The original Simple Viewer displayed the South Atlantic Conservation Blueprint 1.0 at the subwatershed and marine lease block scale. In this interface you could also find information about other landscape scale conservation plans, land cover, and protection status.
This website accompanies task 1 as described in the final report, “Comparability of landscape connectivity products for large-scale landscape planning.” The website is a compilation of data on recent, ongoing, and planned landscape connectivity modeling studies across the Landscape Conservation Cooperative (LCC) network. As of April 2014, we have compiled data from 73 studies of 116 species. The vast majority of studies use circuit theory or least-cost paths to model connectivity, but other approaches represented in the database include graph theory, resistant kernel models, and models of genetic relatedness.
