Nitrogen, phosphorus, and suspended-sediment loads, and changes in loads, in rivers across the Chesapeake Bay watershed have been calculated using monitoring data from the Chesapeake Bay Nontidal Network (NTN) stations for the period 1985 through 2018 Nutrient and suspended-sediment loads and changes in loads were determined by applying a weighted regression approach called WRTDS (Weighted Regression on Time, Discharge, and Season). A recently published extension of WRTDS allows users to separate these estimates into high- and low-flow conditions. This data release contains (1) a table of daily high- and low-flow concentration and load estimates for NTN stations between 1985 - 2018 and (2) an R file that contains...

Implantable satellite transmitters (e.g., Model PTT-100, Microwave Telemetry, Inc) were incorporated into the study to provide fine-resolution location data for a sample of the adult male common loons fitted with geolocator tags in 2010 and 2011. Transmitters were implanted in the abdominal cavity following procedures developed by Korschgen et al. (1996). The satellite transmitters were programmed to transmit on a variable schedule based on the anticipated stage of migration during the loon’s annual cycle - 8 hours on:72 hours off during the breeding season, 8 hours on:24 hours off while migrating, 6 to 8 hours on:96 hours off on the wintering grounds, and 8 hours on:24 hours off during spring migration, and 8 hours...

This comprehensive database describes the core attributes of quantification tools developed for market-based conservation in the United States. It encompasses tools designed for compensatory mitigation, non-compensatory mitigation, and voluntary conservation/restoration programs. The dataset consists of 107 tools. Each tool's features are described using 33 attributes related to general, technical, and ecological/geographic details. This database was first published in 2018. Version 2.0 expands upon the original database by including tools developed for compensatory mitigation under the Clean Water Act section 404 regulatory program. Version 2.0 also provides updates on tool details provided in the original database.

This tabular data set contains estimates of total phosphorus concentration and mass, as well as measurements of water discharge and volume at a diked wetland pool (Pool 2B) that was reconnected to a Lake Erie tributary (Crane Creek) via a water control structure in March 2011. Sampling occurred during 2013 and 2014. In addition, this data set contains evaluations of movement of total phosphorus and water through the reconnecting structure, frequency of changes in flow direction through the reconnecting structure, and dissolved oxygen measurements in the reconnected wetland pool.

Exposure to multiple classes of contaminants, both legacy and those of emerging concern (CECs), were assessed in tree swallow (Tachycineta bicolor) tissue and diet samples from 6 sites along the Maumee River, OH to understand both exposure and possible effects of exposure to those CECs for which there is little avian data. The six sites represented a gradient from intensive agriculture upstream to highly urbanized and industrial landscapes downstream; 1 – 2 remote Wisconsin lakes were assessed for comparative purposes. Cytochrome P450 induction, DNA damage, and thyroid function were also assessed relative to contaminant exposure. Bioaccumulative CECs, such as polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) and perfluorinated...

This data set is part of a data release as a companion to a manuscript titled "Foraging movements and colony attendance of least terns (Sternula antillarum) on the central Platte River". This data release includes three tabular digital data file representing movement patterns, behaviors, and foraging success of least terns that nested on sandpits near the Platte River during 2009 and 2010. Movement, behavior, and foraging data were collected at the sandpits where birds nested as well as on riverine sites.
