This service definition contains landscape factors representing human disturbances summarized to local and network catchments of river reaches for the state of Georgia. This dataset is the result of clipping the feature class 'NFHAP 2010 HCI Scores and Human Disturbance Data for the Conterminous United States linked to NHDPLUSV1.gdb' to the state boundary of Georgia. Landscape factors include land uses, population density, roads, dams, mines, and point-source pollution sites. The source datasets that were compiled and attributed to catchments were identified as being: (1) meaningful for assessing fish habitat; (2) consistent across the entire study area in the way that they were assembled; (3) representative of...

Species occurrence records of the taxonomic class of Bivalvia in oceans within 1000 kilometers of the United States shoreline. This is a subset of the OBIS-USA dataset where Bivalvia records were queried on December 2, 2014. After initial queries, the remaining data were further queried to retain only samples within 1000 kilometers of the U.S. shoreline. Spatial queries were then used to remove samples overlaying land masses. Data are provided in a geodatabase format, as well as a comma seperated values format. OBIS-USA provides aggregated, interoperable biogeographic data collected primarily from U.S. waters and oceanic regions--the Arctic, the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, the Caribbean Sea, Gulf of Mexico and...

Karst hydrologic systems are important resources in the state of Tennessee both as drinking water resources and as centers for possible biological diversity. These systems are susceptible to contamination due to the inherent connectivity between surface water and groundwater systems in karst systems. A partnership between the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and Tennessee Department of Conservation (TDEC) was formed to investigate karst spring systems across the state utilizing fluorescent groundwater tracing, particularly in areas where these resources may be used as drinking water sources. In fall 2021, USGS and TDEC staff identified possible vulnerabilities or complexities that may exist within karst spring systems...

The Northeast Ecological System dataset was last updated: 7/2014 This dataset represents terrestrial and wetland ecological systems of the Northeast (based on NatureServe’s Ecological Systems Classifications) combined with human-modified land types such as roads and agriculture. Download includes Ecosystem Type, Macrogroup, and Formation, you do not need to download each individually. This dataset was created by substantially modifying The Nature Conservancy’s Northeast Terrestrial Wildlife Habitat Classification System (NETHCS) using these steps: -Replaced the National Land Cover Database (NLCD) ‘roads’ embedded in the NETHCS with more accurate roads and trains that are distinguished from developed classes -Removed...

This dataset was last updated February 2017. This version incorporates a revised version of the land cover classification, Terrestrial and Aquatic Habitat Map (DSLland), Version 3.1 developed by the University of Massachusetts, which included the addition of The Nature Conservancy’s Northeast lakes and ponds classification. The Cerulean Warbler (Setophaga cerulea) is a small, blue, migratory songbird that breeds in mature and older deciduous forests across much of the eastern United States. It has been chosen to represent the habitat needs of other species of wildlife that also use mature deciduous forests along riparian bottomlands or dry mountain slopes and ridges. This dataset depicts the potential capability of...

The National Cohesive Wildland Fire Management Strategy, initiated in 2009 and finalized in 2014, provides a national vision for wildland fire management. This highly collaborative effort establishes three overarching goals, and describes stakeholder-driven processes for achieving them: (1) resilient landscapes; (2) fire-adapted communities; and (3) safe and effective wildfire response. The scientific rigor of this program was ensured with the establishment of the National Science and Analysis Team (NSAT). The main tasks of NSAT were to compile credible scientific information, data, and models to help explore national challenges and opportunities, identify a range of management options, and help set national priorities...

To evaluate the potential effects of climate change on wildlife habitat and ecological integrity in the northeastern United States from 2010 to 2080, a University of Massachusetts Amherst team derived a set of climate projections at a fine spatial resolution for the entire Northeast. The projections are based upon publicly available climate models. This dataset represents the mean of the minimum air temperature (degrees C) for December, January, and February for the year 2010 using one of two IPCC greenhouse gas concentration scenarios (RCP8.5). The dataset is intended to represent typical winter temperatures in the decade centered on 2010 rather than the actual temperatures during 2010. MAP UNITS ARE TEMP. IN DEGREES...
