In the next 100 years, accelerated sea-level rise (SLR) and urbanization will greatly modify coastal landscapes across the globe. More than one-half of coastal wetlands in the contiguous United States are located along the Gulf of Mexico coast. In addition to supporting fish and wildlife habitat, these highly productive wetlands support many ecosystem goods and services including storm protection, recreation, clean water, and carbon sequestration. Historically, tidal saline wetlands (TSWs) have adapted to sea-level fluctuations through lateral and vertical movement on the landscape. As sea levels rise in the future, some TSWs will adapt and migrate landward in undeveloped low-lying areas where migration corridors...
Click Here for an interactive network map with links to site water quality data The Adirondack Long-Term Lakes Monitoring Lakes (ALTM) project began in 1982 with the objective of tracking changes in the water chemistry of selected Adirondack lakes that are representative of lake types present throughout the Adirondacks. The network began by measuring the water chemistry at 17 lakes in the Adirondack Mountains. In 1992, the project was expanded to include 52 lakes sampled monthly with a goal of assessing the effectiveness of Title IV of the Clean Air Act Amendments of 1990 to reduce acidic deposition through the regulation of sulfur and nitrogen emissions from fossil fuel burning power plants. From 1992 to 2016...
This dataset contains measurements of chemical concentrations of soil samples representing 28 headwater drainage basins completely within the Adirondack Park of New York State (ADK Park), one basin partially in the ADK Park, and one watershed 2 kilometers from the ADK Park boundary. Seven of these watersheds have been sampled 2 or 3 times over periods of 12 to 22 years. Soil samples were collected from pit faces exposed by shoveling. Total mass of organic matter, carbon and nitrogen in the forest floor are also presented for 16 headwater drainage basins in the ADK Park. Forest floor mass data were determined from samples collected with soil corers. The presented data are organized by six projects: the Adirondack...

USGS Geochron is a database of geochronological and thermochronological dates and data. The data set contains published ages, dates, analytical information, sample metadata including location, and source citations. The following analytical techniques are represented in the data set: 40Ar/39Ar, K-Ar, U-Th-Pb, Sm-Nd, Rb-Sr, Lu-Hf, fission track, luminescence, U-series, (U-Th)/He, Re-Os, 10Be and 26Al cosmogenic, and radiocarbon. This data set incorporates data previously hosted in the National Geochronological Database (Sloan and others, 2003), as well as data from published journal articles and ScienceBase data releases. These data are primarily from the United States, but data from other parts of the world are also...

The dataset is composed of four tables containing environmental DNA (eDNA) data, fish capture data, and site location information from Round Goby (Neogobius melanostomus) surveys conducted on parts of the Champlain Canal and upper Hudson River, and adjacent areas, in New York during 2022, 2023, and 2024. The Louisiana State Legislature created the Coastal Wetlands Planning, Protection and Restoration Act (CWPPRA) in order to conserve, restore, create and enhance Louisiana's coastal wetlands. The wetland restoration plans developed pursuant to these acts specifically require an evaluation of the effectiveness of each coastal wetlands restoration project in achieving long-term solutions to arresting coastal wetlands loss. This data set includes mosaicked aerial photographs for the East Marsh Island Marsh Creation (TV-21) project for 2021. This data is used as a basemap land-water classification. It also serves as a visual tool for project managers to help them identify any obvious problems or land loss within their...
This data release contains land cover-derived statistics regarding estuarine vegetated wetland area change within estuary drainage areas along the conterminous U.S. This dataset includes net change in estuarine vegetated wetland area based on National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) Coastal Change Assessment Program (C-CAP) 1996 and 2016 land cover data. Net change was assessed between estuarine vegetated wetlands (i.e., estuarine marshes, mangroves, non-mangrove estuarine woody wetlands, and salt pannes, depending on vegetation coverage and type) and the following other landcover classes: 1) water; 2) unconsolidated shore; 3) freshwater woody wetlands; 4) freshwater marsh; 5) upland; and 6) agriculture....
This data release includes 2022 data for the Louisiana Outer Coast Restoration Project for North Breton Island. Specifically, this data release includes a detailed habitat map, general habitat map, georeferenced imagery, and a bare-earth digital elevation model (DEM) developed from light detection and ranging data. These habitat maps are developed using the methods and classification scheme from Louisiana Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority’s (CPRA) Barrier Island Comprehensive Monitoring (BICM) program. For more details on BICM habitat classes, see the Entity and Attribute Information section of the metadata. Please consult the accompanying readME.txt file for information and recommendations on the contents...

Electrical resistivity results from four regional airborne electromagnetic (AEM) surveys (Burton et al. 2024, Hoogenboom et al. 2023, Minsley et al. 2021 and Burton et al. 2021) over the Mississippi Alluvial Plain (MAP) were combined by the U.S. Geological Survey to produce three-dimensional (3D) gridded models and derivative hydrogeologic products. These products were first published using data from the first two AEM regional surveys, labeled with the year “2020” (Minsley et al. 2021, Burton et al. 2021). The 3D resistivity models and select derivative products were later updated by incorporating additional data from the two subsequent AEM surveys, labeled with the year “2022” (Burton et al. 2024, Hoogenboom et...

We evaluated changes in mangrove distribution and ecosystem properties in the southeastern United States under climate change using known climate-ecological relationships, recent climate data for the period 1981-2010, and future projected climate data for the period 2071-2100 under two Shared Socio-economic Pathways (SSPs): the SSP2-4.5 and SSP5-8.5 scenarios, which correspond to intermediate and high greenhouse gas emissions scenarios, respectively. We quantified potential mangrove presence, mangrove relative abundance, coastal wetland vegetation height, and coastal wetland vegetation aboveground biomass under recent climatic conditions and under the two alternative future climate scenarios.
