This U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Data Release provides derivative county-level statistics of water used by Kansas irrigators in 2014. The published county-level application rate statistics from the previous 4 years (2010–13) are shown with the 2014 statistics and are used to calculate a 5-year average. The 2014 annual total precipitation and the current 30-year climatic normal (based on 1981–2010) are also shown by county. Other data published in this data release include the amount of water used, irrigated acres, and application rates by crop type and the amount of water used and number of irrigated acres for each irrigation method. This dataset includes data for in-situ solid materials and suspended sediments from surface-water samples, as well as surface-water chemistry from samples collected during storm events at Malakoff Diggins State Historic Park, Nevada County, California. In-situ solid samples were collected during 2015 along six vertical transects along the cliff walls of the mine pit. Gravity data were collected in August of 2019 at 21 sites on and around Iliamna Volcano and Anchorage, Alaska. Measurements were taken with a Lacoste & Romberg G-161 meter and reduced to obtain the complete Bouguer anomaly. A total of 39 magnetic susceptibility measurements were taken at 13 locations using a ZH Instruments SM30 susceptibility meter. This data release includes susceptibility measurements, processed gravity data, shapefiles with field locations, and site photos.

In 2004, about 90 migrating elk drowned after attempting to cross thin ice on the Mores Creek arm of Lucky Peak Lake upstream of the Highway 21 bridge. To better understand the depths over a range of reservoir pool elevations in the Mores Creek Arm, the U.S. Geological Survey, in cooperation with the Lucky Peak Power Plant Project, conducted high-resolution multibeam echosounder (MBES) bathymetric surveys on the Mores Creek arm on Lucky Peak Lake. These data represent the extent and spatial distribution of irrigated acreage delineated from maximum Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) derived from Landsat scenes in the Walker River Basin, California and Nevada, at five-year intervals from 1975-2010. The field boundaries in this data set are digitized from one-year composite maximum NDVI data derived from atmospherically corrected Landsat 2 Multispectral Scanner (MSS), Landsat 5 MSS, and Landsat 5 Thematic Mapper (TM) scenes. Summary: Siliceous sinter samples were collected from multiple geysers in the Upper Geyser Basin of Yellowstone National Park in 2018. These silica sinter samples were collected and analyzed as a part of a multi-year research investigation into the age and geochemistry of hydrothermal features in the Upper Geyser Basin. Samples were collected along the stratigraphy of each feature. From these samples, we report 10Be, U-series, and 14C ages. Samples collected from Giant and Castle Geyser were further analyzed for their mineralogy, major and trace element concentrations, water content, and rare earth elements. The U.S. Army Fort Irwin National Training Center (NTC), approximately 35 mi north-northeast of Barstow, California, covers approximately 1,177 square miles, and is comprised of ten groundwater basins, three of which have been subdivided into subbasins on the basis of additional hydrologic testing. Since the early 1990s, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) has been studying water resources issues at Fort Irwin. One issue of concern is the potential effect of groundwater development resulting from planned training expansion and infrastructure at the NTC on natural springs and seeps, an important water source for wildlife. The U.S. Geological Survey collected field spectra collected from the Niobrara River in Nebraska August 15–18, 2016, to support research on remote sensing of river discharge. Reflectance measurements were made by wading the Niobrara River near Norden Notch using an Analytical Spectral Devices FieldSpec3 spectroradiometer operated in reflectance mode. This dataset shows land cover in the Upper Oconee watershed. The data layer primarily uses the 2011 National Land Cover Database (NLCD) but was manually edited to include 2,219 additional reservoirs. The reservoirs were identified and digitized using 2010 National Aerial Imagery Program (NAIP) imagery.

The USGS, in cooperation with the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, surveyed the bathymetry within an area of about 500 acres of American Falls Reservoir between River Miles 713 and 714 during the week of August 6-8, 2019. The bathymetric survey provided high resolution detail of a proposed treatment area for an aeration system that is being developed to support water quality during the American Falls spillway concrete repair project and possibly thereafter. The Water Quality Restoration Plan detailing this effort is an appendix of the of the Final Environmental Assessment (EA) in conjunction with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) compliance process.

Images of subsurface electrical conductivity are useful for locating fluids and other electrically conductive phases at depth in the Earth. This data release presents electrical conductance maps estimated from a 3D model of the Great Basin, USA, at five different depth ranges, spanning 2 to 200 km depth. Electrical conductance is the integration of electrical conductivity in a depth range.
