On February 14th, 2019, a strong atmospheric river storm (AR4 on the Atmospheric River scale of Ralph et al., 2019) struck California. The heavy rainfall caused landslides in both northern and southern California (Hatchett et al., 2020). This data release includes two subsets of mapped shallow landslide source locations in the vicinity of western Riverside County, California, where sufficient post-event imagery was available within Google Earth (image date: August 15, 2019). The data release includes: 1) .csv files containing the point locations of shallow hillslope landslides, 2) .zip files containing shapfiles (.shp) of the mapped study areas. Ralph, F., Rutz, J. J., Cordeira, J. M., Dettinger, M., Anderson,...

The data herein are geochemical (from X-Ray fluorescence spectrometry), grain size (percent clay, silt, sand), lithological (loss on ignition data), bathymetric, reconstructed IVT, and radioactive isotopes (14-C, 210-Pb, 226-Ra, and 137-Cs). These data were collected from sediments from Leonard Lake, Mendocino County, California, USA starting in 2014. Together, these data provide evidence for a record of extreme precipitation going back three millennia, showing regional pluvial and drought cycles.

The area surrounding La Conchita, California (CA), USA experienced significant landslides and debris flows following a storm on January 10th, 2005, including a deadly deep-seated landslide that destroyed 13 houses and caused 10 fatalities (Jibson, 2006). This data release documents the locations of shallow landslide source locations in the vicinity of the deadly 2005 La Conchita landslide. Landslide locations were mapped as points using post-event imagery available in Google Earth. The data release includes: 1) .csv file containing the point locations of shallow hillslope landslides, 2) .zip file containing shapefile (.shp) of the mapped study area. References: Jibson, R. W. (2006). The 2005 La Conchita, California,...

The text file in CSV (comma-separated values) format contains marine magnetic data from 291 cruises in the Northern Pacific Ocean and Bering Sea. These data originate from two sources: 266 cruises from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) Marine Trackline Geophysical Database (GEODAS) -- https://www.ncei.noaa.gov/access/metadata/landing-page/bin/iso?id=gov.noaa.ngdc:G00129 -- and 25 cruises from USGS holdings, including Scheirer and others (2023). Magnetic records were assigned one of three codes for quality and usability: 0=good data, -1=good data, but magnetic anomalies cannot be recalculated because of missing total field values (three...

This dataset includes a line shapefile of surface traces that were calculated using structural measurements taken in the Stillwater Complex, Montana (Stillwater_Complex_Surface_Traces.shp), along with a .csv file of full references for the published sources used (Stillwater_SurfaceTrace_sources.csv). The surface traces represent the lateral extension of geologic features. The structural measurements which were used to calculate the surface traces are published as a USGS data release and are available here: https://doi.org/10.5066/P93NUSCJ. The surface traces were created from the structural measurement point data using an updated version of the ArcGIS 'surface trace' tool, published as USGS Open-File Report 2019-1136,...

The East Pisco Basin is one of several forearc basins situated on the coastal plain of Peru between the Andean Cordillera and Peru-Chile Trench. During the Cenozoic, successive marine transgressions across the East Pisco Basin deposited sequences of Paleogene and Neogene age. Biochronologic studies suggest that a hiatus of approximately 12 million years (~32-20 Ma) separates the youngest Paleogene deposits from the oldest Neogene deposits. A newly recognized lower Miocene sequence, provisionally named the Tunga Formation, shortens that hiatus. The following database provides location and description of samples from the East Pisco Basin, checklists of microfossil assemblages, and taxonomic notes for those assemblages.
