This data release contains a boosted regression tree (BRT) model (written in the R programming language), and the input and output data from that model that were used to relate base flow nitrate concentrations in the Chesapeake Bay watershed to catchment characteristics. The input data consists of two types of information: 1) surface water nitrate concentrations collected by the USGS and partnering agencies in the Chesapeake Bay watershed between 1970 and 2013 and 2) potential predictor variables that included nitrogen sources, catchment characteristics, soil and groundwater chemistry, soil drainage and composition, and aquifer geology. Model archive summary describing the development of an acoustic derived suspended sediment time series computation model. The model archive summary describes the methods and techniques used to develop the model for the Columbia River at Vancouver site – USGS site ID# 14144700. The time series suspended sediment data will help determine the suspended sediment concentration at the site in real-time enabling science entities, managers, and others, track the movement of sediment in the Columbia River.
Malheur Lake is a vast, shallow lake in eastern Oregon. The lake is within the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge and serves as an important stop and breeding ground along the Pacific flyway for migratory ducks and geese. The bottom of the lake is fairly uniform and there are very few topographic features. A small vertical increase in lake stage may result in a large change in area or volume. This data release contains total dissolved solids (TDS) concentrations and specific conductance (SC) measurements collected at surface-water monitoring locations and groundwater monitoring wells within the Upper Colorado River Basin (UCRB) between 1894 and 2022. Discrete TDS and SC results were obtained from the Water Quality Portal (WQP). Continuous SC monitoring results were obtained from the USGS National Water Information System (NWIS). The data set includes 127,294 TDS results that were collected at 12,339 sites between 1900 and 2022, and 705,918 SC results that were collected at 19,630 sites between 1894 and 2022. This U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Data Release provides phytoplankton data from Upper Klamath Lake, OR from 5/11/2020 - 9/30/2020 from ten sites and zooplankton data from Upper Klamath Lake, OR from 5/11/2020 - 10/14/2020 from eight sites. Phytoplankton data are reported to the lowest possible taxonomic level and biovolume, biomass, and density are reported. Zooplankton data are reported to the lowest possible taxonomic level, biomass and density are also reported.

The Willamette River Basin, Oregon, supports native fish species and non-native fish species introduced for sport fisheries or accidentally from aquarium releases and other sources. Based on fish surveys completed from 1998 to 2018 by Oregon State University and records from the Oregon State University Ichthyology Collection, the Willamette River Basin has 34 native fish species found upstream of the confluence of the Willamette and Columbia Rivers and 28 non-native fish species. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and the Nature Conservancy developed the Sustainable Rivers Program (SRP) as a collaborative environmental flows program to identify, refine, and implement environmental strategies at select USACE dams. High frequency water-quality measurements were collected by the U.S. Geological Survey within Willow Creek Reservoir located in Heppner, Oregon. All measurements were taken at 0.5 meters below the surface with a YSI EXO2 multiparameter sonde. Information collected include location, time, water temperature, pH, specific conductance, dissolved oxygen, total chlorophyll, blue-green algae phycocyanin, and turbidity. The measurements were collected while boating around the reservoir at about 4 kilometers per hour. These data were collected on June 9, 2015, August 17, 2016, and September 16, 2016, and are published as individual datasets for each date.

This data release includes three categories of data that were compiled as part of a study of sediment and solute transport and landscape denudation in watersheds of western Oregon and northwestern California: 1) mean annual loads of suspended sediment, total suspended solids, and silicate solutes at fixed water-quality stations; 2) fluvial transport of bedload, suspended sediment, and silicate solutes; and 3) mean concentrations of silicate solutes at fixed water-quality stations.

This dataset contains concentrations of 25 organochlorine pesticides, 6 industrial or personal care products, 6 polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) flame retardant congeners, and 15 polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) congeners in brain, muscle, gonad, and liver tissues of white sturgeon (Acipenser transmontanus). The U.S. Geological Survey Oregon Water Science Center, in cooperation with The Klamath Tribes initiated a project to understand changes in surface-water prevalence of Klamath Marsh, Oregon and changes in groundwater levels within and surrounding the marsh. The initial phase of the study focused on developing datasets needed for future interpretive phases of the investigation. The Siletz River Basin encompasses 970 square kilometers of western Oregon and drains to the Pacific Ocean. In cooperation with the Confederated Tribes of the Siletz Indians of Oregon (CTSI), the U.S. Geological Survey is evaluating how streamflow and bedload sediment conditions may influence mainstem spawning habitats for spring Chinook Salmon (Oncorhynchus tshawytschya) and Pacific Lamprey (Entosphenus tridentatus). This data release contains data sets that describe reach-scale water-quality conditions for the Pacific drainages of the United States. The nutrient and water use conditions represent the predictions from recent USGS SPARROW (Spatially Related Regression on Watershed Attributes) modeling as well as other watershed attributes. The SPARROW predictions and other watershed attributes were also used as predictors of dissolved oxygen and pH conditions in multiple linear regression models.

Water-quality point measurements were collected at various depths throughout a beaver pond along Fanno Creek in the Tualatin River Basin, Oregon. Parameters collected include water temperature, dissolved oxygen, and sometimes pH. All data were collected over a short period of time (< 4 hours) during 4 hot days in order to characterize the spatial (both horizontal and vertical) variability of these parameters during periods that could potentially be stressful to aquatic life.

This data release contains a comprehensive, spatially referenced database of surface-water transfer and removal events in the Pacific drainages of the United States, which include the Columbia River basin, the Puget Sound basin, the coastal drainages of Washington, Oregon, and California, and the Central Valley of California. Ultra-low volumes of naled are applied by aircraft over rice fields and canals to reduce adult mosquito populations near Sacramento, California. Each summer, the pesticide is applied approximately 7-10 times between July and October. Naled and its major degradate (dichlorvos) were quantified in water, biofilm, and invertebrates following aerial applications.
