Ultra-low volumes of naled are applied by aircraft over rice fields and canals to reduce adult mosquito populations near Sacramento, California. Each summer, the pesticide is applied approximately 7-10 times between July and October. Naled and its major degradate (dichlorvos) were quantified in water, biofilm, and invertebrates following aerial applications. Green Peter Dam on the Middle Santiam River and the downstream Foster Dam on the South Santiam River in Oregon have altered natural seasonal temperature patterns in those rivers. In response, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is leading efforts to improve conditions for Chinook salmon upstream and downstream of these dams by considering structural alterations and by exploring changes to the way the dams are operated. The Middle Fork Willamette River Basin encompasses 3,548 square kilometers of western Oregon and drains to the mainstem Willamette River. Fall Creek Basin encompasses 653 square kilometers and drains to the Middle Fork Willamette River. In cooperation with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the U.S. Geological Survey evaluated geomorphic responses to dam operations at Fall Creek Lake in which lake levels are temporarily lowered to streambed each fall or winter to facilitate downstream passage of juvenile spring Chinook salmon. A hydrodynamic, water-temperature, and water-quality model (CE-QUAL-W2; Wells, 2020) of the Link-Keno reach of the Klamath River (Oregon) was used for calendar years 2006–15 to run a series of base and recirculation scenarios. This data release contains data sets that describe reach-scale water-quality conditions for the Pacific drainages of the United States. The nutrient and water use conditions represent the predictions from recent USGS SPARROW (Spatially Related Regression on Watershed Attributes) modeling as well as other watershed attributes. The SPARROW predictions and other watershed attributes were also used as predictors of dissolved oxygen and pH conditions in multiple linear regression models.

This data release contains a comprehensive, spatially referenced database of surface-water transfer and removal events in the Pacific drainages of the United States, which include the Columbia River basin, the Puget Sound basin, the coastal drainages of Washington, Oregon, and California, and the Central Valley of California. The database also includes mean annual estimates of the water diverted at each event. Water quality point measurements were collected by the U.S. Geological Survey along the lower Willamette River near the cities of Lake Oswego and Wilsonville, Oregon, as well as the lowest two kilometers of the Clackamas River, Molalla River, and Johnson Creek. These measurements were collected in the main channel and off-channel features on discreet dates from April through October of 2017. All measurements include location, time, temperature, and depth below water surface, while many also include specific conductance, dissolved oxygen, pH, and turbidity.

This dataset contains concentrations of 25 organochlorine pesticides, 6 industrial or personal care products, 6 polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) flame retardant congeners, and 15 polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) congeners in brain, muscle, gonad, and liver tissues of white sturgeon (Acipenser transmontanus).
