This digital publication, GPR 2008-1, contains geophysical data and a digital elevation model that were produced from airborne geophysical surveys conducted in 2007 for part of the western Fortymile mining district, east-central Alaska. Aeromagnetic and electromagnetic data were acquired for 250 sq miles during the helicopter-based survey. This digital publication, GPR 2014-3, contains CGG's analysis and interpretation of data produced from airborne geophysical surveys published by DGGS in 2013 (GPR 2013-1) for the Southern Dishna River, Fox Hills, and Beaver Creek survey areas. These three survey areas are informally referred to as the Five Spot survey in places in this publication. CGG's frequency-domain DIGHEM V system was used for the EM data. This report provides detailed (1:63,360-scale) mapping of the Tanana A-1 and A-2 quadrangles (500 square miles; equivalent to eight 7.5-minute quadrangles). The area is part of the Manley Hot Springs-Tofty mining districts and adjacent to the Rampart mining district to the south of the Tanana B-1 Quadrangle. The Alaska Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys (DGGS) has conducted 1:63,360-scale geologic mapping of the Eagle A-2 Quadrangle (270 square miles; equivalent to four 7.5-minute quadrangles). The area is part of the 100-year old Fortymile mining district and is located in eastern Alaska near the Alaska-Yukon border. This map illustrates the distribution of a variety of unconsolidated deposits and undifferentiated bedrock in the Eagle A-2 Quadrangle, Fortymile mining district. It was prepared by the interpretation of 1:63,360-scale, false-color, infrared aerial photographs taken from July 1978 through August 1981 and is locally verified by ground observations during field visits. This surficial-geologic map shows the distribution of unconsolidated deposits and undifferentiated bedrock in the Faith Creek area in the Circle A-4, A-5, B-4, and B-5 quadrangles. This map was prepared principally by the interpretation of 1:63,360-scale, false-color, infrared aerial photographs taken in 1979 and 1981 and is locally verified by ground observations during field work in 2007.

The Alaska Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys (DGGS) has conducted 1:63,360-scale geologic mapping of the Eagle A-2 Quadrangle (270 square miles; equivalent to four 7.5-minute quadrangles). The area is part of the 100-year old Fortymile mining district and is located in eastern Alaska near the Alaska-Yukon border. This geologic map was produced by merging a bedrock geologic map and a surficial geologic map of the Eagle A-2 Quadrangle and based upon results from field investigations by DGGS in 1999 and 2000, which were part of a three-year mapping program to provide geologic ground truth for airborne geophysical surveys flown by DGGS in the Fortymile mining district during 1998.

The east side of the northern Alaska Peninsula near Puale Bay and the Iniskin Peninsula of Lower Cook Inlet have long held interest to exploration geologists due to their well developed oil and gas seeps, which spurred on the first active exploration and drilling efforts for petroleum in Alaska. Several oil rushes occurred in the early part of 20th century, primarily in two phases (1902-1905 and 1922-1926) in the area of Puale Bay and Becharof Lake. Unfortunately all of these wells produced only traces of hydrocarbons.
