Album caption: Devil's Lake Gorge between Devil's Nose on the left and the East Quartzite Bluff on the right, seen from the east, from sec. 228, Merrimac Tp., Wis. The ridge lying as a dam across the gorge (notched by the Central and Northwest Railway cut) is the terminal moraine formed at the west margin of the Green Bay glacier. This ridge has a relief of 200 feet on the east. There is probably 450-500 feet of glacial drift at this point in the valley. Baraboo quadrangle. Sauk County, Wisconsin. September 2, 1907.
