An inventory of facilities that bottle water or other beverages containing water (including soft drinks, beer, wine, or spirits) or that manufacture ice was compiled by combining available datasets from multiple sources. This water bottling inventory dataset includes facilities within all 50 states of the United States, one federal district (Washington, District of Columbia), and three territories (Guam, Puerto Rico, and Virgin Islands). The inventory focuses on presently active facilities in 2023. Most closed water bottling facilities are not included; however, facilities identified as being a former production site (meaning the facility is still active but the business function has changed) or as closed during...

The GAP National Terrestrial Ecosystems - Ver 3.0 is a 2011 update of the National Gap Analysis Project Land Cover Data - Version 2.2 for the conterminous U.S. The GAP National Terrestrial Ecosystems - Version 3.0 represents a highly thematically detailed land cover map of the U.S. The map legend includes types described by NatureServe's Ecological Systems Classification (Comer et al. 2002) as well as land use classes described in the National Land Cover Dataset 2011 (Homer et al. 2015). These data cover the entire continental U.S. and are a continuous data layer. These raster data have a 30 m x 30 m cell resolution. GAP used the best information available to create the land cover data; however GAP seeks to improve...

These data were compiled for the National Park Service and Upper Colorado River Endangered Fish Recovery Program. Objective(s) of our study were to resurvey previously established cross sections on the Yampa and Little Snake rivers in the Deerlodge Park area to document changes in channel width, depth, and cross-sectional area. A secondary purpose of this study was to document the location of the cross-section endpoints using modern Global Positioning System (GPS) measurements so that future researchers may easily replicate these surveys. These data represent the 2017 resurvey coordinates and elevations of previously established cross sections on the Little Snake and Yampa rivers. These data were collected in Lily...

The High Plains aquifer extends from approximately 32 to 44 degrees north latitude and from 96 degrees 30 minutes to 106 degrees west longitude. The aquifer underlies about 175,000 square miles in parts of Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, and Wyoming. This digital dataset contains water-level measurements from wells screened in the High Plains aquifer and measured in both predevelopment (about 1950) and for 2019. There were 2,741 wells measured in both predevelopment (about 1950) and 2019 as well as 71 wells located in New Mexico, which were measured in predevelopment and at least once between 2015 and 2018. These water-level measurements were used to map water-level changes,...

This child item describes R code used to determine water source fractions (groundwater (GW), surface water (SW), or spring (SP)) for public-supply water service areas, counties, and 12-digit hydrologic unit codes (HUC12) using information from a proprietary dataset from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Water-use volumes per source were not available from public-supply systems so water source fractions were calculated by the number of withdrawal source types (GW/SW). For example, for a public supply system with three SW intakes and one GW well, the fractions would be 0.75 SW and 0.25 GW. This dataset is part of a larger data release using machine learning to predict public supply water use for 12-digit hydrologic...

Chalk Cliffs, located 8 miles southwest of Buena Vista, Colorado, is one of the most active debris-flow areas in the state (U.S. Geological Survey). This "Child item" page includes videos of debris flows captured by one of the high-definition cameras at the monitoring site in Chalk Cliffs, CO. This camera (Wide-angle Camera) is located on the opposite side of the basin from Station 1 and has a broad view of the channel. The attached figure "station_and_camera_locations.png" provides an overview figure with the location of the four cameras and three stations along the channel. Video recording for all cameras is triggered using a rainfall threshold (Michel et al., 2019). The complete videos for all the cameras are...

This dataset contains a series of maps of projected threats and current state of habitats for the threatened Gunnison sage-grouse (Centrocercus minimus). The maps are 30-m spatially explicit projections of current habitats (2016) and future landscape change (by 2070) for the full range of the species’ seven extant populations, which cover diverse ecoregions of the imperiled sagebrush biome of the western United States. Risk maps assessed projected changes caused by climate change-driven shifts in sagebrush habitats, mesic habitats, pinyon-juniper encroachment, and invasive annual grasses, as well as potentially synergistic risk of development and wildfire. We used a scenario-based risk assessment framework based...

The High Plains aquifer extends from about 32 degrees to almost 44 degrees north latitude and from about 96 degrees 30 minutes to 106 degrees west longitude. The aquifer underlies about 175,000 square miles in parts of Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, and Wyoming. This digital dataset consists of three sets of water-level measurements. The first set are the supplemental water-level measurements for 547 wells screened in the High Plains aquifer, not located in New Mexico, measured in predevelopment and at least once for 2015 through 2018, but not for 2019. These supplemental measurements were used to calculate historical water-level change values for predevelopment to 2015 to...
