This data release includes physical and chemical characteristics of field collected sediment and soil samples in Missouri representing potential sediment/soil that may enter the water column during construction related activities. Three samples were collected, including Spring River sediment, Osage River bank soil and Columbia crushed limestone. The impacts of increased suspended solid level due to the three samples on early-stage freshwater mussels were examined using three freshwater mussel species, including Fatmucket (Lampsilis siliquoidea), Arkansas Brokenray (Lampsilis reeveiana), and Washboard (Megalonaias nervosa). Specifically, toxicity endpoints including survival, biomass, and growth of juveniles were...

Data were collected in association with the application of two physical barrier treatments, bentonite clay (a sealing agent) and expanding foam (an insulation sealant), in natural pond-burrows to suppress or kill the invasive red swamp crayfish (Procambarus clarkii). Data include burrow diameter and depth, crayfish sex and size, and determination of the treatment reaching the burrow chamber.

This data release includes data from laboratory bioassay sediment exposures to Lampsilis siliquoidea and Hyallela azteca. Sediment was collected from streams and rivers within the Tri-State Mining District (TSMD). Endpoints include survival, reproduction and growth, metal concentrations, and various water quality parameters collected during the exposures

These data are comprised of measurements of elements (e.g., uranium, cobalt, nickel, copper, zinc, cadmium, lead, etc.), major anions (chloride, nitrite+nitrate as nitrogen, sulfate, etc.), organic carbon, and general water quality characteristics in Pinyon Plain Mine containment pond water, invertebrate, vegetation and sediment samples, collected in calendar year 2022.

Data includes grass carp position and sampling data from 2020 to 2022. We used grass carp that were implanted with acoustic transmitters. The position data was generated in Fathom Position from receivers that composed several VEMCO Positioning Systems (VPS). We also queried the Great Lakes Acoustic Telemetry Observation Network (GLATOS) to obtain non-VPS position detections from receivers made from multiple projects across Lake Erie and associated tributaries. Sampling data was downloaded from the grass carp capture database hosted on ArcGIS Online These data contain information such as location of event, time gears were deployed and retrieved, and number of grass carp caught.

In order to estimate the costs of chemical control of non-indigenous crayfish versus the cost of manual inspection of fish hatchery shipments a cost analysis was performed. The data includes ranking the likelihood of missing non-indigenous crayfish and effects on fish of handling during manual searches and the effects on fish during chemical exposure. The data also includes estimates of the time, staff, and salary requirements and cost of materials for each approach.

A piscicide delivery method was designed to selectively target black carp Mylopharyngodon piceus, an invasive species in North America which possesses specially adapted pharyngeal teeth for crushing mollusk prey. Bait was prepared by attaching a glass vial containing toxicant (antimycin A) to the exterior of Corbicula fluminea clam valve. The vial was designed to break by the force exerted from the fish’s (550 millimeter total length) pharyngeal teeth when the fish attempted to crush and consume the clam. Suitable vial size was tested for encapsulating piscicide and two attachment materials, aquarium epoxy and ultraviolet light (UV) cured attachment material. Toxic baits consisting of antimycin A piscicide were...

This data release includes physical and chemical characteristics of field collected samples from streams and rivers within the Tri-State Mining District (TSMD) as well as toxicity endpoints from chronic water-only and sediment laboratory exposures including survival and growth of the mussel Lampsilis siliquoidea; survival, growth, and reproduction of the amphipod Hyalella azteca; metal concentrations, and various water quality parameters collected during the toxicity studies. Mining in the Tri-State Mining District took place over a large geographic area, with mining taking place in the three states of Missouri, Kansas, and Oklahoma.

The numeric and alphanumeric identifiers for samples collected for this study and the dates these samples were collected; 2. Results data containing concentration values of individual polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon compounds in sediment, soil, and vegetation samples; 3. Results data containing concentration values of individual PAH compounds in water samples; 4. Results data containing concentration values of individual polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon compounds in quality-control sample blanks for all four sample matrices (sediment, soil, vegetation, water); 5. This data release includes data from four week sediment laboratory exposures to 1 and 2 month old Lampsilis siliquoidea. Sediment was collected from streams and rivers within the Tri-State Mining District (TSMD). Endpoints include survival and growth, metal concentrations, and various water quality parameters collected during the toxicity studies.

We determined the acute toxicity of four wildland fire retardants (Phos-Chek 259-Fx, Phos-Chek MVP-Fx, and Phos-Chek LC-95A-Fx, and Phos-Chek LC-95A-R) to two life stages (swim-up fry and young juveniles) of rainbow trout in standardized hard and soft water. The measure of acute toxicity was expressed as both the 96-hour median lethal concentration (96-h LC50, based on mortality) and 96-h median effective concentration (EC50, based on mortality, plus loss of equilibrium and immobilization), which are statistically derived concentrations expected to kill or kill and severely impair, respectively, 50 percent of the test fish in 96 hours. This data set includes the concentration-response data at 24, 48, 72, and 96...

These data represent the measurements of length and mouth gape from large juvenile and adult wild-caught and small juvenile hatchery origin black carp, and the results of laboratory size preference trials with bivalve prey, specifically Corbicula clams. Wild-caught black carp ranged from 429-1580 mm total length, a larger range than measured in previous studies. Corbicula feeding trial data consist of the shell dimensions of each clam, survival, and the frequency which clams were engulfed by black carp.
