This shapefile includes strike and dip information for the area of the Stillwater Complex, located in southwestern Montana. This dataset was created from pre-existing digital strike and dip information and from digitizing strike and dip locations from georeferenced map images. The data includes information about the strike and dip locations; the geologic unit and rock type the measurement was taken on; information about the source map, such as map title and scale; and other miscellaneous information. Version 2.0 includes additional strike and dip measurements and updated locations for many points resulting from maps that were re-georeferenced using high resolution lidar. For access to the previous version of this...

This imagery dataset consists of 3-meter resolution, lidar-derived imagery of the Hagerstown 30 x 60 minute quadrangle in Pennsylvania, Maryland, and part of West Virginia. The source data used to construct this imagery consists of 1-meter resolution lidar-derived digital elevation models (DEMs). The lidar source data were compiled from different acquisitions published between 2016 and 2023. The data were processed using geographic information systems (GIS) software. The data is projected in WGS 1984 Web Mercator. This representation illustrates the terrain as a hillshade with contrast adjusted to highlight local relief according to a topographic position index (TPI) calculation. First release: 2012 Revised: February...

This dataset contains polygons representing deposits of hyaloclastic debris that were generated between about 3.5 and 3.0 million years ago when a series of basaltic lava flows entered the canyon of the ancestral Columbia River. The lava flows were erupted from volcanoes in the area of the Hood River graben of McClaughry and others (2012), generally have low-potassium tholeiitic basalt composition, and were part of a widespread pulse of mafic volcanism in the northern Oregon Cascade Range that occurred between about 4.4 and 2.1 million years ago (Conrey and others, 1996). Lava flows that entered the ancestral Columbia River were rapidly chilled and fragmented during interaction with water (Trimble, 1963, Swanson,...

The East Pisco Basin is one of several forearc basins situated on the coastal plain of Peru between the Andean Cordillera and Peru-Chile Trench. During the Cenozoic, successive marine transgressions across the East Pisco Basin deposited sequences of Paleogene and Neogene age. Biochronologic studies suggest that a hiatus of approximately 12 million years (~32-20 Ma) separates the youngest Paleogene deposits from the oldest Neogene deposits. A newly recognized lower Miocene sequence, provisionally named the Tunga Formation, shortens that hiatus. The following database provides location and description of samples from the East Pisco Basin, checklists of microfossil assemblages, and taxonomic notes for those assemblages.

This imagery dataset consists of 3-meter resolution, lidar-derived imagery of the Bluefield 30 x 60 minute quadrangle in West Virginia and Virginia. The source data used to construct this imagery consists of 1-meter lidar-derived digital elevation models (DEMs). The lidar source data were compiled from different acquisitions published between 2020 and 2022. The data were processed using geographic information systems (GIS) software. The data is projected in WGS 1984 Web Mercator. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in cooperation with the Harris‐Galveston Subsidence District, City of Houston, Fort Bend Subsidence District, Lone Star Groundwater Conservation District, and Brazoria County Groundwater Conservation District produced this dataset of groundwater‐level altitudes and groundwater‐level altitude changes in the Chicot and Evangeline aquifers (undifferentiated), and Jasper aquifer in the greater Houston area, Texas. This dataset shows current‐year (2023) groundwater‐level altitudes for each aquifer as well as 1–year (2022–23), and 5‐year (2018–23) groundwater‐level changes for each aquifer, long‐term (1990–2023 and 1977–2023) groundwater‐level changes for the Chicot and Evangeline aquifers...

The U.S. Geological Survey, in cooperation with the National Park Service, Yellowstone Center for Resources, as part of work for the Yellowstone Volcano Observatory, has compiled a shapefile map of thermal areas and thermal water bodies in Yellowstone National Park. A thermal area is a continuous, or nearly continuous, geologic unit that contains one or more thermal features (e.g., hot springs, mud pots, or fumaroles); hydrothermally altered rocks and/or hydrothermal mineral deposits; heated ground and/or geothermal gas emissions; and is generally barren of vegetation or has stressed / dying vegetation. There are more than 10,000 thermal features in Yellowstone, most of which are clustered together into about 120...
