Phosphorus, nitrogen, and suspended-sediment loads, in 24 U.S. tributaries of the Great Lakes, were calculated using U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) data from the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI) monitoring program for the period Oct 2010 through Sept 2020 (USGS water years 2011–2020). Total phosphorus, orthophosphate, particulate phosphorus, total nitrogen, nitrate plus nitrite, ammonium plus ammonia, and suspended-sediment loads and changes in loads were determined by applying a weighted regression approach called WRTDS (Weighted Regression on Time, Discharge, and Season). The load results represent the total mass of nitrogen, phosphorus, and suspended sediment exported downstream at each tributary site....

Emc2.xls was the program used to calculate the estimates of undiscovered resources for the World Petroleum Assessment 2000. The USGS Central Region Energy Team assesses oil and gas resources of the United States. The onshore and State water areas of the United States comprise 71 provinces. Within these provinces, hydrocarbon plays or assessment units are defined and assessed. Each of these provinces is defined geologically, and most province boundaries are defined by major geologic changes. The province boundaries were drawn on the county lines that most closely followed the natural geologic boundaries.

This map shows the structural configuration of the top of the Travis Peak or Hosston Formations in feet below sea level. The map was produced by calculating the difference between a datum at the land surface (either the Kelly bushing elevation or the ground surface elevation) and the reported depth of the Travis Peak or Hosston. This resulted in 18,941 wells for which locations were available. After deleting the wells with obvious data problems, a total of 18,933 wells were used for the map. The data are provided as both lines and polygons, and the proprietary wells that penetrate the top of the Travis Peak or Hosston Formations are graphically displayed as quarter-mile cells. One-percent annual exceedance probability (AEP) flood-flow estimates were computed at flood insurance study (FIS) locations across Pennsylvania using methods identified in Scientific Investigation Report (SIR) 2019-5094. Following guidance outlined in SIR 2016-5149, valid statistical reaches (VSRs) were identified for streamgages, which were used to assist with the determination of the applicable method used to compute a USGS-derived 1-percent AEP flood-flow estimate at an FIS location. The core equations of the SPARROW model (Schwarz and others, 2006) were implemented in differential form using the R programming language (R Core Team, 2017), as the basis of a tool for empirically relating a regional pattern of changes in constituent flux, over a multi-year period, to spatially referenced changes in explanatory variables over the same period. A pilot implementation was developed to explore factors influencing changes in flow-normalized flux of total nitrogen over the period 1990-2010 at 43 sites in the non-tidal Chesapeake Bay watershed. Model inputs, outputs, and code are included in this data release, and are described below.

Treated effluent from wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) contains contaminants not fully removed during the treatment process and that may pose environmental health risks when discharged to surface waters. Record amounts of precipitation fell across the Colorado Front Range from September 9 to 16, 2013, resulting in extensive flooding in the South Platte River and its major mountain tributaries. In this study, the effects of the flood on the City of Boulder, Colorado urban hydrology system were assessed using weekly time-series sampling of 3 source waters (Boulder tap water, Boulder wastewater treatment facility effluent, and Boulder Creek water) conducted from September 20 to October 16, 2012 (n=5) and August 13 to September 30, 2013 (n=8).
