The Southern Nevada volcanic-rock aquifers reside in southern-central Nevada. This group of aquifers can be categorized into welded tuff, bedded tuff, and lava flow aquifers. Each of these categories possess different physical characteristics and have varying degrees of welding and number of interconnected joints. The lithology of these aquifers is primarily dependent on mode of eruption and cooling and are highly variable. Because the lithology is so variable, so is groundwater transmission, storage, and yield (HA 730-B). This product provides source data for the Southern Nevada volcanic-rock aquifers framework, including: Extent shapefiles: 1. p_57SRNVDV.shp: Polygon shapefile containing the areal extent...

Digital flood-inundation maps for a 7.5-mile reach of the White River at Noblesville, Indiana, were created by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in cooperation with the Indiana Department of Transportation. The flood-inundation maps, which can be accessed through the USGS Flood Inundation Mapping Science website at https://water.usgs.gov/osw/flood_inundation/, depict estimates of the areal extent and depth of flooding corresponding to selected water levels (stages) at the White River at Noblesville, Ind., streamgage (USGS station number 03349000). Real-time stages at this streamgage may be obtained from the USGS National Water Information System at https://waterdata.usgs.gov/nwis or the National Weather Service...

This shapefile contains fish habitat condition index (HCI) scores as well as specific disturbance indices for 6th level Hydrologic Unit Code (HUC12) watersheds of the Watershed Boundary Dataset. The source datasets compiled and attributed to spatial units were identified as being: (1) meaningful for assessing fluvial fish habitat; (2) consistent across the entire study area in the way that they were assembled; (3) broadly representative of conditions in the past 10 years, and (4) of sufficient spatial resolution that they could be used to make valid comparisons among HUC12 units. In this data set, variable summaries are linked to HUC12 watersheds developed for the Watershed Boundary Dataset downloaded on March 18,...

Digital flood-inundation polygon shapefiles for an 8.8-mile reach of the North Platte River, from 1.5 miles upstream of the Highway 92 bridge to 3 miles downstream of the Highway 71 bridge, were created by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in cooperation with the Cities of Scottsbluff and Gering. The flood-inundation maps, which can be accessed through the USGS Flood Inundation Mapping Science website at http://water.usgs.gov/osw/flood_inundation/, depict estimates of the areal extent and depth of flooding corresponding to selected water levels (stages) at the USGS streamgage on the Platte River at Scottsbluff, Nebr. This Data Release provides the compilation of offset measurement datasets and associated fault data to accompany the manuscript “Climatic influence on the expression of strike-slip faulting” by Reitman et al. In addition to a ReadMe file, it includes two tabular datasets, one code, and one text file. The datasets are a compilation of offset measurement data (“data_multiple_eq_offsets.xlsx”) from 31 studies of strike-slip faults with multiple earthquakes, and the associated fault data (“fault_data" provided in csv and xlsx formats) with inputs necessary to do the analysis described in the accompanying manuscript. The code (“code_multiple_eq_offsets.ipynb”) reads the offset measurement data from each sheet of “data_multiple_eq_offsets.xlsx”...

The U.S. Geological Survey acquired high-resolution P- and S-wave seismic data across the Frijoles Fault strand of the San Gregorio Fault Zone (SGFZ) at northern Año Nuevo, California in 2012. SGFZ is a right-lateral fault system that is mainly offshore, and prior studies provide highly variable slip estimates, which indicates uncertainty about the seismic hazard it poses. Therefore, the primary goal of the seismic survey was to better understand the structure and geometry of the onshore section of the Frijoles Fault strand of the SGFZ. We deployed 118 geophones (channels) at 5-m spacing along a linear profile centered on the mapped surface trace of the Frijoles Fault and co-located active P- and S-wave sources...

The San Juan Mountains in southwestern Colorado have long been recognized as a site of exceptionally voluminous mid-Tertiary volcanism, including at least 24 major ignimbrite sheets (each 150-5,000 km3) and associated caldera structures active at 33-23 Ma. More recent volcanologic and petrologic studies in the San Juan region have focused mainly on several ignimbrite-caldera systems: the southeastern area (Platoro complex), western calderas (Uncompahgre-Silverton-Lake City), the central cluster (La Garita-Creede calderas). The northeast San Juan region that was far less studied until recently occupies a transition between earlier volcanism in central Colorado and the larger-volume younger ignimbrite-caldera foci...

These data sets were created in support of the U.S. Geological Survey's (USGS) Next Generation Water Observing System (NGWOS) for the Delaware River Basin pilot study (Eberts, Wagner, and Woodside, 2019). The NGWOS utilizes real-time data, improved computational capabilities, and new technologies such as the rapid deployment of unmanned aerial vehicle's (UAV) and autonomous underwater vehicle's (AUV) to provide information on water quantity and quality, in more locations, quickly and efficiently (Eberts, Wagner, and Woodside, 2019). Combined with advanced modeling applications, the NGWOS will be an important tool for water-resource managers and emergency management. Water-quality and bathymetric data were measured...

This tabular, machine-readable CSV file contains annual phenometrics at locations in ponderosa pine ecosystems across Arizona and New Mexico that experienced stand-clearing, high-severity fire. The locations represent areas of vegetative recovery towards pre-fire (coniferous/pine) vegetation communities or towards novel grassland, shrubland, or deciduous replacements. Each sampled area is associated with the point location (latitude/longitude) as well as multiple calendar year phenometrics derived from the time-series of normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) values in the phenology software package Timesat v3.2.

This data release provides coupling of Conterminous United States and several Canadian operational reservoirs used in recent hydrologic modeling studies to authoritative national hydrographic datasets used to identify, calibrate, model, and assess streamflow, water quantity, quality, and ecological resources. The National Inventory of Dams (NID) provides linkages to dams operated in the United States, GRanD provides linkages to Global Dams and Reservoirs, and the National Hydrography Dataset Plus (NHDPlus) provides linkages to the stream network and waterbodies to easily couple with National Hydrologic Models and landscape parameters. The Geospatial Fabric for National Hydrologic Modeling, version 1.1 (GFv1.1) provides...
