The Simplified Site Characterization Method (SSCM) was employed to obtain VS30 data at 39 sites across California. These geophysical surveys utilized both active- and passive-source methods wherever site conditions allowed. Primary focus was on characterization of seismic stations. Major regions surveyed include the San Francisco Bay Area, Anza Valley, Imperial Valley, Los Angeles, and Santa Barbara. Also characterized were 4 PG&E dams. Active-source methods were designed for Rayleigh-wave MASW analysis, while passive-source methods were designed for use with ESAC analysis approach. Also included in this data release are data sets for geophysical surveys of five seismic stations done by standard approach surface-wave...

Zircon grains separated from altered ash beds were analyzed to better understand the ages of the beds. Isotopic analyses for U-Pb geochronology and trace element geochemistry were performed simultaneously by secondary ion mass spectrometry using the Stanford-USGS SHRIMP-RG ion microprobe housed at Stanford University, USA. Analyses followed the analytical protocol and data acquisition conditions described by Watts et al. (2016). These data are reported in this release.

This data release is a field-verified inventory of postfire hydrologic response for the 2020 CZU (San Mateo–Santa Cruz Unit) Lightning Complex, River Fire, Camel Fire, and Dolan Fire following a 26-29 January 2021 atmospheric river storm sequence. Postfire hydrologic response types include a) no response, b) minor response, and c) major response. A “minor” response was deemed capable of impairing infrastructure functioning (e.g., deposition or erosion along a road that could be regraded by mechanized earth-moving equipment within a matter of hours) or causing minor bodily injury (e.g., abrasions, sprains, or broken bones). A “major” response was deemed capable of causing sustained infrastructure impairment (e.g.,...
