This U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Data Release provides derivative county-level statistics of water used by Kansas irrigators in 2014. The published county-level application rate statistics from the previous 4 years (2010–13) are shown with the 2014 statistics and are used to calculate a 5-year average. The 2014 annual total precipitation and the current 30-year climatic normal (based on 1981–2010) are also shown by county. Other data published in this data release include the amount of water used, irrigated acres, and application rates by crop type and the amount of water used and number of irrigated acres for each irrigation method. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and Air Force Civil Engineering Center (AFCEC) have entered into a cooperative agreement to refine the hydrogeology in the Northeast AFRL and Arroyos groundwater areas of the Air Force Research Laboratory of Edwards Air Force Base. This part of the data release presents projected flooding extent polygon (flood masks) and flooding depth points (flood points) shapefiles based on wave-driven total water levels for American Samoa (the islands of Tutuila, Ofu-Olosega, and Tau). For each island there are 8 associated flood mask and flood depth shapefiles: one for each of four nearshore wave energy return periods (rp; 10-, 50-, 100-, and 500-years) and both with (wrf) and without (worf) the presence of coral reefs. Flooding depth point data are also presented as a comma-separated value (.csv) text file.
This dataset represents the network-adjusted results of relative- and absolute-gravity surveys. Relative-gravity surveys were carried out using a Zero Length Spring, Inc. relative-gravity meter. The effect of solid Earth tides and ocean loading were removed from the data. Instrument drift was removed by evaluating gravity change during repeated measurements at one or more base stations. This data set consists of 59 wideband magnetotelluric (MT) stations collected by the U.S. Geological Survey in July and August of 2020 as part of a 1-year project funded by the Energy Resources Program of the U.S. Geological Survey to demonstrate full crustal control on geothermal systems in the Great Basin. Each station had 5 components, 3 orthogonal magnetic induction coils and 2 horizontal orthogonal electric dipoles. Data were collected for an average of 18 hours on a repeating schedule of alternating sampling rates of 256 samples/second for 7 hours and 50 minutes and 4096 samples/second for 10 minutes. This data release provides digital flight line data for a high-resolution airborne magnetic and radiometric survey over parts of Montana in the vicinity of the Boulder Batholith. The airborne survey was jointly funded by the Earth Mapping Resources Initiative and Kennecott Exploration Company. The survey was designed to meet complementary needs related to geologic mapping and characterization of mineral resource potential. The travel time map was generated using the Pedestrian Evacuation Analyst model from the USGS. The travel time analysis uses ESRI's Path Distance tool to find the shortest distance across a cost surface from any point in the hazard zone to a safe zone. This cost analysis considers the direction of movement and assigns a higher cost to steeper slopes, based on a table contained within the model. The analysis also adds in the energy costs of crossing different types of land cover, assuming that less energy is expended walking along a road than walking across a sandy beach.
