This is the YKD egg observation data summarized into yearly stats on mean initiation and hatch dates for various species. This file is produced from the R code eggs.R.
This is the quality controlled YKD salinity data for fixed and random plots 2006 - 2019. These data are quality controlled using the R code in the file 'YKDsalinity_QC.R' to produce the data used for analysis and sharing ('YKDsalinity_QC.R'). These data should be what is used for analysis or distributed on request.
This is the YKD nest card data from 1985 to 2019 produced after processing with the R script "Nest_Cards_QC.R". This file ('Nest_Cards_1985_2019_QC.csv') should be used for producing population estimates and any other analyses. This file is what should generally be distributed for YKD nest card data requests.

This geopackage contains the density strata that were used to create the Alaska Arctic Coastal Plain Aerial Breeding Pair Survey four-year rotating panel design. This file was derived from a mid-1980’s ArcInfo coverage for the North Slope Eider Survey that was produced through the visual interpretation of 1:250,000-scale LANDSAT imagery and the known nesting density waterfowl in the area.

This collection contains the quality-control (QC) transcribed data from the Arctic Coastal Plain Aerial Breeding Pair Survey. These QC data were produced from the “raw” data using the R Package “AKaerial.” The raw data were evaluated against the current data standards in the ‘AKaerial data dictionary’ and saved to new QC data files with associated log files that document any changes that were made. The data files in this collection were named using the following naming convention: ACP_YYYY_QCObs_OOOO, where ACP=Arctic Coastal Plain, YYYY=Year, QCObs=Quality control observations, and OOOO=observer’s first initial and last name. This multi-layer GeoPackage contains the Alaska Arctic Coastal Plain Aerial Breeding Pair Survey design transects from 2007 to present. The original transects were created as shapefiles and imported to this SQLite database. Transects were saved as individual polylines named according to the year they were created (e.g., “main.ACP_2007_Trans,” “main.ACP_2008_Trans,” “main.ACP_2009_Trans,” etc.). These aerial transects were developed systematically from randomly-selected start points and created along constant lines of latitude. Combined population indices for the USFWS Region Migratory Bird Management Arctic Coastal Plain study area. The survey consists of low-level aerial observations of waterfowl on a stratified strip transect design. The resulting data frame is several indices combined over observers (or single observer in years where estimates were not combined) and calculated using a standard ratio estimator. These data are output from the R package AKaerial and are also available within that package, see https://github.com/USFWS/AKaerial. The data used to produce these estimates contain known errors. This is a geojson file that define the spatial polygon of the YKD nest plot study area. From 1998 to current, nest plot centroids are randomly selected from this area with the constraint that plots cannot overlap plots from the previous 5 years. This area also defined the area of inference for design-based calculations of nest population estimates. Before 1998, larger areas were sampled, so this file does not apply to those years.
Annual assessment of nesting populations of geese on the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta (YKD) provides information for biologists, participants in cooperative goose management plans, and Pacific Flyway technical committees. A ground-based sampling procedure has been used since 1986 to estimate the number of total nests, active nests, and eggs for cackling geese, emperor geese, greater white-fronted geese, and spectacled eiders. Annual information on the size of the nesting population and potential number of young produced contributes long term data needed to understand goose and eider population ecology and better manage these species.
