This data set documents the dry mass energy density, distribution, and stomach contents of age-0 chum salmon (Oncorhynchus keta) captured in the Kuskokwim Bay estuary in May and June 2004. The analysis of this data was published in Burrill et al. 2018 (DOI :10.1007/s00300-018-2297-2.).
This dataset is a single comma-delimited text file (.csv). Data include the name of lakes where sampling occurred, approximate geographic coordinates of each lake, historical dynamics of the lake, and indication of measurements taken at the lake.
This dataset is a single comma-delimited text file (.csv). Data include the name of lakes where samples were obtained, the historical dynamics of that lake, the sampled community type, and the dry mass of annual new growth. Shrub community measurements are a combination of understory mass from quadrat harvests and shrub stem mass derived from published allometric equations.
This dataset is a single comma-delimited text file (.csv). Data include the name of lakes where samples were obtained, soil pH, electrical conductivity (EC), water content (VWC), and bulk density (BD) of soil core samples within organic soil horizon in lake-margin wetland plant communities.
This dataset consists of one table with annual counts from population plots of Black-legged Kittiwakes and Common Murres at two seabird nesting colonies on Gull and Chisik Islands in lower Cook Inlet, Alaska.
This dataset provides information on fish species composition and their diet information for 16 lakes and 16 ponds at two locations on the central Arctic Coastal Plain, Alaska. In one table, we provide the presence of fish species and the total species count for each lake or pond sampled. This table also includes metrics of surface water connectivity to the stream network. In a second table, stomach content information is provided for fish collected during summer sampling periods (late June to mid-August) over three years (2011–2013). The third table includes stable carbon isotope and stable nitrogen isotope signature data for fish species and snails (the baseline organism) from 16 water bodies at one study location...
This dataset is a single comma-delimited text file (.csv). Data include the name of lakes where samples were obtained, soil core dimensions, bulk density, and carbon/nitrogen content of soil core samples within the organic soil horizon in lake-margin wetland plant communities.
These are genetic data collected from replicated samples of 21 Enteroctopus (E. dofleini or a cryptic lineage) in Prince William Sound Alaska to evaluate tissue type, DNA extraction method, and time until analyses are completed on data reliability. Data collected from all samples include two microsatellites identified as possible lineage indicators, and nine microsatellite loci previously identified as polymorphic in both lineages. DNA sequence data from 528 bp of the octopine dehydrogenase (OCDE) gene were also collected.

This dataset consists of one table with predator disturbance information from the Common Murre breeding season (June-August) from 2016-2020 on Gull Island, Kachemak Bay, Alaska.
These data represent estimates of den entrance and exit dates for female polar bears in the southern Beaufort and Chukchi Seas based on temperature sensor data obtained from satellite collars. An algorithm described in Olson et al. (2017) was used to determine whether the female entered a den and further analyses using temperature data as described in Olson et al. (2017) were used to assess den entry and emergence dates. The algorithm used identified the denning period as that during which collar temperature remained consistently above a temperature threshold. As such, users of these data should be aware that bear behavior can affect den entrance and exit date. If a bear moves in and out of a den frequently, the...
This dataset provides an orthorectified aerial photo mosaic derived from airborne fodar data acquired in 2021 on August 31 over the Totatlanika River in central Alaska. The term “fodar” is a portmanteau of foto and lidar, coined by Matt Nolan, which describes a method of quantifying the color and elevation of Earth’s surface via airborne small-format digital camera photography.

This dataset consists of one table with annual nesting productivity estimates for Black-legged Kittiwakes and Common Murres at two seabird nesting colonies on Gull and Chisik Islands in lower Cook Inlet, Alaska.
These data are serum urea nitrogen and creatinine levels for polar bears captured in the southern Beaufort Sea 1983-2016 and the Chukchi Sea 1987-1993. The dataset includes relevant information about the bears that were captured including the latitude and longitude of their capture location, capture date, age class and sex, the age and number of cubs accompanying an adult female, and whether the bear denned during the previous winter or exhibited signs of being engaged in mating behavior at the time of or just prior to capture.

These data are the data for spring body composition and energy content for adult female brown bears from Gates of the Arctic, Lake Clark, Kodiak, and Katmai, Alaska, 2014-2017.
This dataset consists of one table with Area Backscattering Coefficient (ABC) data from hydroacoustic transect surveys collected around two seabird nesting colonies on Gull and Chisik Islands in lower Cook Inlet, Alaska.

This data set describes nuclear microsatellite genotypes derived from eleven autosomal loci (Lar24, Lar12, Lar26, Lar19, Rbg13, K16, Rbg18, Hg18, Hg16, Hg25, Rbg29). A total of 651 Larus gulls were examined for this study with samples collected throughout North America, Europe, Russia, and South America.
This data release comprises 4 datasets used to measure the field metabolic rate, body composition, foraging success, behavior, and movement patterns of 9 female polar bears on the sea ice of the Beaufort Sea in April, 2014-2016 as well as 1 dataset used to measure the energetic cost of resting in an adult female polar bear at the San Diego Zoo, San Diego, CA. Wild bears were dosed with and had their blood analyzed for oxygen-18 and deuterium concentrations, equipped with GPS-enabled satellite video camera collars with tri-axial accelerometers, and blood was measured for serum urea and creatinine levels. The bear at the San Diego Zoo had her oxygen consumption measured while resting in a metabolic chamber.
These data are daily summary checklists of all bird species observed at U.S. Geological Survey, Alaska Science Center (ASC) field camps. Data include species observation details such as observers, dates, location, and number of individuals seen. Field camps were located in Northern, Western, Interior, Southwest, Southcentral, and Southeast Alaska, Baja California Sur Mexico, and northern Russia.
