Historical lead mining in Madison County, Missouri, USA has left a legacy of metals contamination. Laboratory studies were conducted to examine the effect of water hardness and age of crayfish on the toxicity of environment-based metals mixture. Additionally, the effects of chronic exposure to a metals mixture to egg development in adult crayfish were assessed. These data are comprised of measurements of elements (i.e., cobalt, nickel, copper, zinc, cadmium, lead), major anions (e.g., chloride, sulfate), dissolved organic carbon, and major cations (e.g, sodium, calcium, magnesium) in water samples collected during laboratory-based diluter exposure studies.

Location and associated data came from whooping cranes from the Aransas-Wood Buffalo Population, 2009–2018. We marked a sample of 68 whooping cranes with leg-mounted transmitters that acquired locations via the global positioning system (GPS) network and transmitted those data through the Argos satellite system. Cranes were captured either at their natal areas in and adjacent to Wood Buffalo National Park in Canada or at their winter terminus along the Texas Gulf Coast. Transmitters provided different quantities of data because of the variable transmitter functionality and survival of marked birds. Multiple partners administered this research project and collected these data, including the Canadian Wildlife Service,...

This data is part of the Gulf Watch Alaska (GWA) long term monitoring program, benthic monitoring component and a seasonal diet study in Kenai Fjords National Park. The dataset is a comma separated file exported from a Microsoft Access database. The data consists of observations made of foraging sea otters (Enhydra lutris). Observers used Questar field model spotting scopes and binoculars to identify prey. Date, local time, dive duration, success, prey type, prey size, prey number, handling time and surface time are all recorded. Sites are in Alaska and include locations in Katmai National Park and Preserve, Kenai Fjords National Park and Prince William Sound. This data in this file were collected 2012-2016.

Product Description: This dataset provides maps of peak biomass carbon stock (C) in gC/m2 and net primary productivity (NPP) in gC/m2/yr of coastal herbaceous wetlands at a resolution of 30 m across the conterminous United States (CONUS) for 2015. Aboveground, belowground, and total peak biomass C and NPP are provided for tidal herbaceous wetlands. Data is presented for 1. all herbaceous/emergent marshes, 2. palustrine emergent marshes and 3. estuarine emergent marshes. Background: Spatial assessments of greenhouse gas emissions and carbon sequestration in natural ecosystems are necessary to develop climate mitigation strategies. Regional and national-level assessments of carbon sequestration require high-resolution...

This data release has been SUPERSEDED. No data are provided here. Data from HABs sampling data releases have been appended to U.S. Geological Survey data release: https://doi.org/10.5066/P9MLNP9H. This data set is comprised of two tables with results of algal toxin screening for saxitoxin and domoic acid. We used enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) to screen seabirds, forage fish, and marine invertebrates from the Gulf of Alaska, 2015-2017.

This dataset contains results of genetic screening for Poecivirus from samples of black-capped chickadees (BCCH; Poecile atricapillus) with and without clinical signs of avian keratin disorder (AKD). Data include information on detection/non-detection of the virus in tissue collected with buccal swabs, cloacal swabs, blood samples, and fecal samples from up to 124 individuals between 2015 and 2017 from various locations in southcentral Alaska. For an additional 17 symptomatic (and one asymptomatic) individual(s) collected between 2001 and 2015 in the same region, data include measurements of viral load in beak tissue measured by qRT-PCR as well as the amount of actively replicating virus detected by 7 negative-strand...

The Aransas-Wood Buffalo population of whooping cranes migrates through the U.S. Great Plains twice annually, moving between wintering areas along coastal Texas and summering areas in and around Wood Buffalo National Park, Canada. These birds primarily migrate within a roughly 300-km-wide corridor that spans areas in Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, and northwestern Montana in the U.S. The United States Air Force operates three bases in Oklahoma within the migration corridor of the whooping crane. These data support summarizations that identify temporal patterns of potential encounters, spatial patterns of use surrounding bases and regionally, and use of airspace by flying whooping...

Observation data and model covariate data from breeding bird inventory conducted during May-June 2004 and 2008 primarily in montane areas (>100 m above sea level) in Aniakchak National Monument and Preserve (Aniakchak NMP), Katmai National Park and Preserve (Katmai NPP), and Lake Clark National Park and Preserve (Lake Clark NPP) in southwestern Alaska. Observers conducted 1,021 point counts along 169 transects within 63 10-km × 10-km plots that were randomly selected and stratified by ecological subsection.

These data are records collected from an automated weather station and four stand-alone tipping bucket rain gauges each with their own data logger that were in operation between February 2005 and December 2023 in the Badger Wash Study Area near Mack, Colorado as part of a larger project funded by the Bureau of Land Management. These files are hourly-interval data from the automated weather station with meteorological parameters of air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed, wind direction, wind gusts, photon flux density and rainfall as well as from a soil pit with temperature and soil moisture measurements at 5, 10, 20, 40, 60, 80 and 100 cm deep. The standalone tipping-bucket rain gauge data which records...
