This data release provides data in support of an assessment of changes in slope of the concentration-discharge relation for total organic carbon in eight major rivers at gaging stations in Connecticut from October 1972 to September 2019 (U.S. Geological Survey water years 1973 to 2019). The rivers include the Connecticut at Thompsonville (01184000), Housatonic at Stevenson (01205500), Quinebaug at Jewett City (01127000), Farmington at Tariffville (01189995), Shetucket at Willamantic (01122500), Naugatuck at Beacon Falls (011208500), Quinnipiac at Wallingford (01196500), and Salmon at East Hampton (01193500). The assessment is described in the article “An increase in the slope of the concentration discharge relation...

This tabular data set represents Enhanced Vegetation Index compiled for two spatial components of the NHDPlus version 2.1 data suite (NHDPlusv2) for the conterminous United States; 1) individual reach catchments and 2) reach catchments accumulated upstream through the river network. This dataset can be linked to the NHDPlus version 2.1 data suite by the unique identifier COMID. Units are 0-1, 0 being low vegetation, 1 being high vegetation. Reach catchment information characterizes data at the local scale. Reach catchments accumulated upstream through the river network characterizes cumulative upstream conditions. Network-accumulated values are computed using two methods, 1) divergence-routed and 2) total cumulative...

This dataset contains annual flow metrics quantifying drought and low streamflows for USGS GAGES-2 gages in the contiguous U.S. satisfying data completeness checks for the periods 1921-2020, 1951-2020, and 1981-2020. The dataset also contains annual climate variables from the USGS Monthly Water Balance Model (MWBM). The dataset provides trend analysis outputs for annual drought and low flow metrics for the periods 1921-2020, 1951-2020, and 1981-2020. Finally, we include six R language code files that were used to create the values included in this release as summarized in the process step section.

This metadata record describes monthly estimates of natural stream flows for greater than 2.5 million stream reaches, defined by the National Hydrography Dataset (NHD) Version 2.0, in the conterminous United States for the period 1950-2015. A statistical machine learning technique - random forest modeling - was applied to estimate natural flows using 200 potential predictor variables. The dataset is organized by level 3 ecoregions, with each ecoregion having its own directory. Separate .csv files for each stream reach in the NHD network belonging to a given ecoregion are contained within the respective ecoregion directories. The stream reach .csv files are named as the NHD COMID corresponding to that stream reach....

This metadata record describes data that characterize low-flow period duration and seasonality, as well as trends and climate linkages at streamgages across the conterminous United States. These data are associated with a publication which looks to answer three questions about low-flow periods in the conterminous United States: (1) how long are these periods and when do they typically start and end, (2) how are these properties changing through time, and (3) how does climate influence these properties? These data include 1145 U.S. Geological Survey streamgages with historical periods from 1951-2020. This data release contains the following: 1) low_flow_characteristics.csv: Annual low-flow period characteristics...

This U.S Geological Survey data release contains soil moisture, actual evapotranspiration, precipitation, and potential evapotranspiration by watershed for the United States from 1980 to 2020. Hourly values from NASA's North American Land Data Assimilation System Phase 2 (NLDAS-2) Noah model were aggregated to daily values and extracted by Geospatial Attributes of Gages for Evaluating Streamflow, version II (GAGES-II) watershed. The daily aggregated values include average soil moisture at four depths, 0 to 10 centimeters (SoilM_0_10cm), 10 to 40 centimeters (SoilM_10_40cm), 40 to 100 centimeters (SoilM_40_100cm), and 100 to 200 centimeters (SoilM_100_200cm); and total actual evapotranspiration (Evap), precipitation...
