This data release contains about 60 million point cloud data points collected during 27 scans of a section of the western shoreline of the Shinnecock Peninsula in Suffolk County, New York. Data were collected during July and October of 2022. Data are provided as .las files with points classified as either bare earth (GROUND_SN_BRIC_BL_2022_v03.0 (2).las), vegetation (VEGETATION_SN_BRIC_BL_2022_v03.0.las) or unclassified (DEFAULT_SN_BRIC_BL_2022_v03.0.las). Users are encouraged to read the metadata and Noll and others (2024) to understand how the data were collected, registered, and classified.

GEOPHYSICAL METHODS CAPABILITIES The New York Water Science Center (NY WSC) makes extensive use of geophysical methods in its hydrologic investigations and research in cooperation with local, State, and Federal partners. The NY WSC staff has many years of experience in collecting and interpreting surface and borehole geophysical data, and applying the results to provide a better understanding of the subsurface environment for resource management and protection, infrastructure design, hazard mitigation, and remedial actions. This data release contains frequency domain electromagnetic (FDEM) geophysical data collected in fields and forests near and along the banks of the Kankakee River near Hanna, Indiana to observe near surface (top 10 meters or less) electrical conductivity variations, potentially related to soil moisture, lithology, and/or pore fluid conductivity. Both a GEM-2 and a DualEM-421 instrument were used. Raw data, processed inversions (electrical conductivity versus depth), data dictionaries and README files for each instrument are contained in the attached files.

This data release contains phytoplankton data and vertical profile measurements of water quality and light in oligotrophic (low nutrient) lakes within the Adirondack Park, New York State. Data were collected between June and October 2021 at five lakes. Four lake locations (Nearshore, Open Water, Layer, Bloom) were sampled representing one of four sample types (Bottom Sediment, Surface Water, Bloom Material, Layer).
