This dataset features inundated areas connected to the main channel at discharges from 15,000 cfs to 95,000 cfs. The spatial extent for floodplain inundation modeling in the lower Trinity River was from Romayor, Texas, to approximately Moss Bluff, Texas. River sections were modeled using steady flow conditions. For the upper section, discharge and stage were both available for the two gages (Romayor USGS 08066500 and Liberty USGS 08067000). For the lower section, the Moss Bluff gage (USGS 08067100) is tidally-influenced, so gage height didn’t correspond to upstream changes in discharge. To model river stage specific inundation for the upper section, discharge for each Landsat 8 overpass date was entered as the upstream...
This layer represents 5-year relative counts of wildlife carcasses collected by Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) personnel (2008-2012) or reported by the general public (2012) on or adjacent to state highway system (major) routes. To obtain relative counts, the 5-year total counts per mile, which included all wildlife species observed, were divided by the maximum observed calue (98) to give a relative 0-1 risk score. Total counts, which include all wildlife species observed, along with carnivore counts, which include only black bears, grizzly bears, mountain lions, and wolves, are provided. Counts were derived by identifying the nearest mile marker to each carcass point location, then counting the frequency...
This dataset was last updated February 2017. This version incorporates a revised version of the land cover classification, Terrestrial and Aquatic Habitat Map (DSLland), Version 3.1 developed by the University of Massachusetts, which included the addition of The Nature Conservancy’s Northeast lakes and ponds classification. The Ruffed Grouse (Bonasa umbellus) is a medium-sized brown grouse found in forests from Alaska to Georgia. It has been chosen to represent the habitat needs of other species of wildlife that also use mixed aged forests, including young forests. This dataset depicts the potential capability of the landscape throughout the Northeastern United States to provide habitat for Ruffed Grouse based on...

Our objective was to model frequency of low-pulse events on small, ungaged streams in the Upper Colorado River Basin. Modeling streamflows is an important tool for understanding landscape-scale drivers of flow and estimating flows where there are no gaged records. We focused our study in the Upper Colorado River Basin, a region that is not only critical for water resources but also projected to experience large future climate shifts toward a drier climate. We used a random forest modeling approach to model the relation between frequency of low-pulse events on gaged streams (115 gages) and environmental variables. We then projected frequency of low-pulse events to ungaged reaches in the Upper Colorado River Basin...
This data product contains combined estimates of high habitat connectivity areas for mountain lion, mule deer, desert bighorn sheep, and black bear. The analysis area was a 236,000 square kilometers that encompassed the Navajo Nation, which includes portions of Arizona, New Mexico, and Utah. The estimates of habitat quality were created with spatially explicit habitat variables and either an expert-based linear combination process (for mountain lion and mule deer) or a generalized linear mixed model-based estimation that used radio-collar telemetry data (for desert bighorn sheep, black bear, and pronghorn; collected between 2005-2011). Habitat variables varied among species but included vegetation type, terrain...
We represent vulnerability as matrix that relates impacts with adaptive capacity. Vulnerability is high when impact is high and adaptive capacity is low. Vulnerability is moderate when either the impact is high and adaptive capacity is high, or if impact is low and adaptive capacity is low. Vulnerability is low when impact is low and adaptive capacity is high. We represent these conceptually as categorical for ease of discussion, but in reality there is continuum of vulnerabilities, and a different adaptation strategies and likely conservation actions, depending on the characteristics of the vulnerability.
For the Green River Basin Landscape Conservation Design (GRB LCD) assessment, we mapped the vulnerability of occupied Colorado River cutthroat trout (Oncorhynchus clarkii pleuriticus) habitat to climate change for each 12-digit hydrologic unit. Cutthroat trout occupied habitat was mapped from the range-wide status report (Hirsch et. al 2013). Using a vulnerability framework, we defined Sensitivity (S) as the total length of occupied cutthroat trout habitat within HUC12 polygons. The exposure parameter incorporates two climate change metrics, the change in flow timing and change in stream temperature. Exposure is quantified as the square root transformed product of the two climate change metrics. Potential Impact...

The landscape permeability model represents the structural connectivity of sagebrush ecosystem habitat in the Green River Basin (including ~5-10 km boundary outside of the GRB. This model connects patches of habitat, across the landscape using resistances that represent the degree of human modification and slope (energetic costs), using the Multi-Scale Landscape Permeability model (Theobald et al. 2012; Theobald unpublished). We used two metrics: (a) patch importance and (b) betweeness centrality amongst patches. These metrics were summarized for each HUC12. This dataset represents the vulnerability of sagebrush ecosystem permeability to human modification summarized for each HUC12 watershed within the Green River...
In 2006, the Century Commission for a Sustainable Florida called for an identification of those lands and waters in the state that are critical to the conservation of Florida’s natural resources. In response, the Florida Natural Areas Inventory, University of Florida Center for Landscape Conservation Planning, and Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission collaborated to produce CLIP - the Critical Lands and Waters Identification Project. CLIP is now being used to inform planning decisions by the Peninsular Florida Landscape Conservation Cooperative, coordinated by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

Priority resources are the set of biological, ecological, and cultural features and ecological processes collaboratively identified as most important or most significant for the focus geography. These resources embody the key components of the Peninsular Florida Landscape Conservation Cooperative (PFLCC) vision, which is a collective vision that reflects the mission, vision, common interests, and values of the focus geography partners. The priority resources are the focus of the PFLCC’s planning, design and implementation of conservation strategies(Benscoter et al. 2015). In Spring 2015, PFLCC’s Steering committee unanimously voted to adopt the SWAP ( the Florida State Wildlife Action Plan) habitats as the basis...
