This sampling frame is a set of grid-based finite-area frames spanning Canada, the United States, and Mexico. The grid for the United States is broken into individual grids for the continental United States, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico. Alaska is combined with Canada into a single grid. Each country/state/territory extent consists of four nested sampling grids at 50x50km, 10x10km, 5x5km, and 1x1km resolutions. The original 10x10km continental United States grid was developed by the Forest Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture for use in the interagency “Bat Grid” monitoring program in the Pacific Northwest and was expanded across Canada, the United States, and Mexico for the North American Bat Monitoring Program (NABat)....

The NABat sampling frame is a grid-based finite-area frame spanning Canada, the United States, and Mexico consisting of N total number of 10- by 10-km (100-km2) grid cell sample units. This grain size is biologically appropriate given the scale of movement of most bat species, which routinely travel many kilometers each night between roosts and foraging areas and along foraging routes. A draw of sample units from a finite sampling frame using the GRTS design produces an ordered list of units such that any ordered subset of that list is also randomized and spatially balanced. This vector dataset is the individual grid-based sampling grid for Mexico at a 10x10km resolution.

This is the study area associated with the project: “Status and Trends of Deciduous Communities in the Bighorn Mountains”. The aim of the study is to assess the current trends of deciduous communities in the Bighorn National Forest in north-central Wyoming. The data here represents phase I of the project, completed in FY2017. The USGS created a synthesis map of coniferous and deciduous communities in the Bighorn Mountains of Wyoming using a species distribution modeling approach developed in the Wyoming Landscape Conservation Initiative (WLCI) (Assal et al. 2015). The modeling framework utilized a number of topographic covariates and temporal remote sensing data from the early, mid and late growing season to capitalize...

This data set provides locations and values of water quality parametersters from a survey conducted on August 23, 2016 using an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) in Nicoll Bay, NY. During the August 23 survey, 13,910 observations of water quality parameters were made. Parameters collected include dissolved oxygen, pH, water temperature, specific conductance, and salinity. Data was collected in approximately east-west transects by the AUV, with the northern-most transects made first. Data was collected between the hours of 1 am and 5 am to obtain minimum DO values in the daily cycle. There are three files available for download in the 'Attached Files' section below. There is a zip file which contains the observation...

The travel time map was generated using the Pedestrian Evacuation Analyst model (version 1.0.1 for ArcGIS 10.5) from the USGS (https://geography.wr.usgs.gov/science/vulnerability/tools.html). The travel time analysis uses ESRI's Path Distance tool to find the shortest distance across a cost surface from any point in the hazard zone to a safe zone. This cost analysis considers the direction of movement and assigns a higher cost to steeper slopes, based on a table contained within the model. The analysis also adds in the energy costs of crossing different types of land cover, assuming that less energy is expended walking along a road than walking across a sandy beach. To produce the time map, the evacuation surface...
