A rain garden and other stormwater control measures (SCM) were installed at Gary City Hall in Gary, Indiana to retain water, increase infiltration and divert stormwater from city sewers. These input data were collected from a rain gage ((USGS site 413611087201301, City Hall Weather Station at Gary, IN.) and five monitoring wells with installed pressure transducers at different locations (see site description). The Episodic Master Recession (EMR) method is applied using these data as the singular input to estimate the amount of groundwater recharge at each of the five sites during the indicated period of time. Site-specific multiple linear regression models were developed for eight sites in Ohio—six in the Western Lake Erie Basin and two in northeast Ohio on inland reservoirs--to quickly predict action-level exceedances for a cyanotoxin, microcystin, in recreational and drinking waters used by the public. Real-time models include easily- or continuously-measured factors that do not require that a sample be collected. Real-time models are presented in two categories: (1) six models with continuous monitor data, and (2) three models with on-site measurements. Real-time models commonly included variables such as phycocyanin, pH, specific conductance, and streamflow or gage height. Many of the real-time factors were averages...

Velocity and water-quality surveys were completed along an approximately 71-mile reach of the Ohio River between Markland Locks and Dam (river mile 531.5) and McAlpine Locks and Dam (river mile 606.8) on October 27–November 4, 2016 (survey #1), and June 26–29, 2017 (survey #2). Water-quality data collected in this reach included surface measurements and vertical profiles of water temperature, specific conductance, pH, dissolved oxygen, turbidity, chlorophyll, and phycocyanin. Streamflow and velocity data were collected simultaneous to the water-quality data at cross-sections and along longitudinal lines (corresponding to the water-quality surface measurements) and at selected stationary locations (corresponding...

These data are bathymetry (river bottom elevation) and depth-averaged velocities generated from the September 17–18, 2020, survey of the Kentucky Dam tailwater from just downstream from Kentucky Dam to approximately 1,500 feet upstream from the I-24 bridge (about 1 mile total length). Bathymetry and velocity data were collected using an acoustic Doppler current profiler (ADCP) with an integrated global navigation satellite system (GNSS) smart antenna with submeter accuracy. The ADCP and GNSS antenna were mounted on a marine survey vessel, and data were collected as the survey vessel traversed the tailwater along planned survey lines. There was typically one reciprocal pair (two passes) of data collected per line....

These orthophotos and digital surface models (DSMs) were derived from low-altitude (approximately 92-m above ground surface) images collected from unmanned aerial system (UAS) flights over edge-of-field sites that are part of U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI) monitoring. The objective of this UAS photogrammetry data collection was to provide information on the tile-drain network in individual fields with the goal of understanding already observed patterns in runoff amount and water quality from these sites. A 3DR Solo quadcopter served as the flight vehicle, flights were pre-planned using Mission Planner, and flights were flown using Tower. Geospatial data were originally in...

The primary data sets consist of continuous water-quality data (temperature, specific conductance, pH, dissolved oxygen, turbidity, nitrate plus nitrite, and streamflow) from in-situ equipment, and discrete water-quality samples (total nitrogen, total phosphorus, suspended sediment concentration, and suspended sediment sieve diameter) collected during site visits at the USGS streamgage School Branch at CR750N at Brownsburg, Indiana, November 17, 2015 to February 6, 2019. The continuous and discrete measurements were used to develop regression models which may be used to compute concentrations and loads of suspended sediment, total nitrogen, and total phosphorus. The secondary data sets consist of daily streamflow,...
