Digging a test trench near Glady Creek where mastodon (Mammut americanum) remains were found on the McGill farm in Concord Township, Champaign County, Ohio. Before excavation of the site began, two test trenches were dug at the north and south ends of the prospective site. The test trench depth was 5 to 7 feet. Bones were presumed to have come from the marl layers. The image was taken by Michael C. Hansen in September 1978. The location given is approximate to the excavation site.
