This dataset contains morphometric information from Burmese pythons collected from an invasive population in southern Florida between 1995-2021. Scientists from the U.S. Geological Survey and the National Park Service curated this dataset as a repository for records of Burmese pythons found on or nearby federal lands in southern Florida, including Everglades National Park, Big Cypress National Preserve, Biscayne National Park, and Crocodile Lake National Wildlife Refuge. The Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan (CERP) requires the use of ecological indicators to measure the success of restoration efforts. The Everglades amphibian community is ideal because amphibians are present in all habitats and under all hydrologic regimes. During Everglades restoration, hydrologic patterns will change and the response of ecological indicators will determine success. Fourteen amphibian species were detected through visual encounter surveys, vocalization surveys and trapping methods throughout the study and the occurrence information collected in this project database.
The CREST project involves a blend of process and monitoring activities relevant to understanding the resilience of shallow water reef environments. Current areas of research include the Dry Tortugas, Virgin Islands and Biscayne National Parks, and selected areas of the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary. Research goals include: Improve understanding and information about coral reef resilience Advance the ability to forecast future changes in coral reef environments Guide management decisions.

This dataset includes details of loggerhead and green turtles captured and satellite tagged between 2009 and 2021; the turtles presented here have tracking days within Biscayne National Park. A subset of turtles was captured within Biscayne National Park, whereas others were tracked to the study site, and tagged elsewhere. The dataset contains information related to satellite tracking (e.g., tracking period), biology (e.g., sex, species), and animal behavioral mode determined from a switching state-space model (SSM).
